  1. What a bunch of whiners! I bet most of you wouldn't be able to do half the caching you do if your wives weren't watching your kids and paying the bills. I think I'm gonna start a Single Moms Geocaching group... We've got boots, backpacks, bandaids, we can get rid of spiders, and bribe a 5 year old into getting out of bed for a FTF- we don't need you guys for nothin'. Well, Ok, almost nuthin'.
  2. I still carry my 2 1/2 year old in a backpack on hikes (though I should point out she only weighs 26 lbs). The Kelty/REI packs are all nice, and you may be able to find a used one. It's been my experience, however, that while hiking to the cache with a kid on your back is fun, looking for a cache is sometimes hard. You can't easily bend over and look under things, and ducking under branches can be tricky. Still, it's all worth it (until they start pulling your hair...).
  3. I'm a single mom with two girls, 2 and 6 years old, so I mainly cache with them, or by myself. My two year old can now pronounce "goecaching" and "GPS" perfectly! They love to go, althought they won't look for micros, and the 6 year old won't hike more that half a mile. I can still carry the 2 year old a couple miles in the backpack, but it's hard to duck under tress and look in the bushes once I get to the cache location. The 6 year old is getting to be quite a pro- she's the first to spot likely hiding places, like bridges and hollow trees. They know all the trade rules, and I have to say to all those people complaining about McToys - they LOVE McToys. In fact, B found a green plastic horse today, whose eyes light up when you press a button on his head, and she insisted that it's just what she's been wanting (for weeks! months!), and hasn't put it down since. If we just find a cache full of signature cards and useful hiking things, we throw in extra kid stuff.
