Three GOOD sources of light per person. (cave rule)
Not quite so important in woods but still very good SOP
Or at the very least spare batteries and bulb.

[He was being facetious.
I realized that after his second reply....

What does being a "pro" have to do with it? I didn't know people made a living from hiding/finding tupperware in the woods.

The fact that th is a only a game, hobby, past time, what ever you want to call it, and that some people treat it WAY to seriously. It doesn't mean that my kids will go to school without lunch money or I will lose my job if I don't get a cache approved, or somebody has a problem with one of my caches.

My wife is getting tired of me pointing out where caches are as we are driving around town.

98 Dodge Dakota club cab 4x4. It is a daily driver as well as hauling around Boy Scouts at least once a month on camping trips. I have a topper on it to keep all the scouts stuff dry and secure.

Just my cell phone.

My 15 y/o son and 12 y/o daughter both cache with me and each has their own log in ID. My son Has his own GPS and my daughter has hinted at wanting one of her own. It's a great way to spend time together with them.

It can be done, but it will be extremely difficult. You don't have to have a GPS with all the bells and whistles (compass, thermometer, altimeter, etc.), unless you really want to spend the extra money. I use a Magellan Explorist 200 that has a base map loaded in it. It is fast and accurate. The cost was about $150.00 to $160.00. Just do your homework and find what will fit your needs and budget. Welcome to the game and good luck.

http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...63-492ac90d5020 - My son and I found this cache after it was archived. We already had it in the waypoints in the GPS (I know, we went out with old data). We were in the area one day and went after it. When we went to log it we found that it was archived. We posted a find for it anyway. Later on the cache was unarchived. The owner thought that it had been destroyed in one of the three hurricanes that hit our county last year here in Florida. Had we not posted a find, it would still be out there with nobody looking for it.

I agree with letting it stand. After all you didn't find it. Plus, it's only a game/hobby. It's not like you'll be sending your kids to school without lunch money if you don't post a find.

Talk radio... Rush is right!!!

The above post was done under my son's log in. Sorry about that.

With gas prices getting very close to $3.00 per gallon in central Florida I can no longer justify going out, just to go on a caching run. Maybe catch a few every now and then on the way home from work. But then I kinda feel guilty because my caching partner is my son and he is in school when I get off from work @ 8:00 in the mornings, and I don't want him to miss out.

Tech Plus.

I would like to see CW stay around. At least a 5wpm requirement for HF. After the No Code Tech was introduced our 2 meter nets (in central Florida) went down hill. All the CBer's that got a tech ticket brought thier habits with them. They didn't want to abide by the gentlemens agreements, language, ect. The reason I got into ham was so I could have a mobile rig and not have my kids (6 & 3 at the time) listening to all the salty language. I haven't been on the air for several years now. And have no desire to upgrade. Right now I have a Tech plus ticket. However I did renew my license when it was due. I am thinking about getting back on the air, and up grading, so I can operate from camp sites with my son's Boy Scout Troop when we go camping and some of the scouts can get the radio merit badge. Just my two cents.

My wife got about 100 35mm film canisters from a drug store that does film processing. She is using them with her Girl Scout Troop for crafts. All she had to do was ask for them. So every once in a while I sneak one or two

This past weekend while camping with my son's Boy Scout Troop (Troop 774- Gulf Ridge Council in Florida) I intrduced Geocaching. We set out to find the caches that were in the camp ground we were in. After going from one cache to another the younger scouts had their 5 mile hike to advance in rank. They all loved geocaching, not to mention getting their hike out of the way.

I geocache with my son Paintballman14. He is 15 now and loves it. The main thing he wanted for Christmas was a GPS (which he got). It really gets us out together. My daughter, who is 11, sometimes tags along. Still working on getting the wife to go with us.

I use a megallan explorist 200 and am quite happy with it. Not too sure about putting dog treats in caches. May invite other critters that may damage a cache.
