  1. Does this work? https://goo.gl/photos/BZU7L98XRBYEoZp78
  2. Wish I had one. But I did take a photo. Not sure how to get it here though. Taking baby steps. Not trying to be secretive. Just trying to figure it out.
  3. I did a name search on the NGS datasheet retrieval site for all benchmarks in Colorado that start with "E". There's nothing for E217. However, there is an E271 which was monumented in 1941, which matches to your benchmark's date. Perhaps that's the correct name? E271's PID is JJ0517 if you want to check its particulars. Hope this helps. Wow, I didn't know its possible to search by description letter! How did you do that? Wonderful info, thank you so much!

  5. Is there any way to log a bm using the description since I cannot find the PID? I have looked on the national site and even tried retracing my map route to see where the bm are located. All I have is the description on the disc and that it was in Co. I wrote down E217, 1941. Can anyone help me?
  6. I just purchased a GPSMAP 62s after using a GPSMAP 60csx for a number of yesrs. The geocaches are not showing up on the map. I also purchased City Navigater maps which are loaded. Caches are loaded and list, but don't show up on the map.
  7. We are looking at a cache which requires us to do "position averaging." How would you go about postion averaging to find the postion of a peak on a mountain- or in this case a pyramid in Egypt? ("Cheops Virtual") Do you walk around the bottom of the pyramid and do a calculation? Any help would be appreciated!
  8. This is terrible news and the timing could not be worse. I have been working for weeks on researching caches for Europe---we leave Tuesday--and have several pocket queries planned for use with my palm while traveling. I have used mobipocket for years! Some notice before turning it off would have been appreciated. I would have run everything in advance. This is not a good time to have to change directions, load new programs and learn to use them in a foreign country. To make matters worse, this seems like a play to put pressure on Mobipocket to play nice with geocaching.com. All well in good in business, but mobi pocket is not going to feel this pain nearly as much as I am. I usually mind my own business and do not get involved in the under belly of this "geocaching.com" but this is not good. really really not good. I also need quick information about how to completely change my way of caching between now and Monday night. Any help would be appreciated. Terry wogunhiker
  9. Found a cool log entry in our cache called "Charmed Steel Set-up." Copied the entry word for word and entered it into the history. Was wondering if anyone else out there ever found a fascinating note inside a log book? What are some of the best?
  10. Suddenly after running pocket queries for months with no problem suddenly they are not opening with GSAK--they are opening with a zip program-Stuff it! I cannot get the gpx files into the database. What happened and what I am doing wrong,
  11. Yes, I see now it has been added to our stats, did not see it there before! Thanks for the replies!
  12. Yup, we did that all right and the benchmark is on the list- but it still doesn't show up on my chache accountas a "found."
  13. We found one and took a picture of it, how do we get the benchmark to show up as a found cache? I have seen other members listing "found benchmarks" but ours does not show up- any ideas?
  14. We like to place small stones with motivational words- like "dream" or "believe" into the really small chaches. We also use charms and like to theme our own caches around them- "Charmed Trek" or Charmed something or other...." We have seen some really poor items such as the nicked golf balls and sometimes children leave colored stones- which to them are really cool. It's all in the eye of the beholder I guess! All we can do is upgrade and remove the poor quality stuff when we find it!
  15. Found a TB who is needing photos of his journey. How do you attach a pix. to a log record?
  16. hey buddy, go to a music store.... okay, save yourself a trip. it's a.......... Guitar Capo! you lay the plastic coated metal part over the strings, then pull the elastic back behind the neck and poke the hole up over the piece of metal sticking over the other end, and voila! it shortens all the strings and effectively changes the key so you don't have to learn a bunch of new chords to play the same song in a different key or tuning.
  17. I think I saw mention of a new on-line place for buying cache "stuff" like tshirts, stash boxes, etc. Can't seem to find it today- maybe I need some GPS coordinates! Any help out there?
