Hi, vielleicht hilft dir ja mein eigener Erkenntnisstand dazu: Badges bei MyGeoTools: Du lädst Dir Deine My-Finds-Pocket-Query herunter und entzippst sie. Diese ausgepackte GPX-Datei lädst du bei http://www.mygeotools.de/tools/awards/ hoch und klickst auf "Badges generieren". Nach kurzem Nachdenken liefert Dir MyGeoTools dann eine Vorschau und ein Textfeld voll HTML-Code, den du komplett und unverändert in dein Profil bei GC.com kopieren kannst - fertig. Alternativ kannst du dazu auch das Programm "GCStatistic" verwenden (http://www.macdefender.org/products/GCStatistic/), das Du auf Deinem Rechner installierst. Das Programm benutzt ebenfalls Deine My-Finds-Pocket-Query, kann sie aber selbstständig anfordern. Es erzeugt relativ einfach alle möglichen Statistiken über Deine Finds, inkl. der Badges von MyGeoTools. Welche Statistiken genau man haben will, braucht man nur anzukreuzen, und man kann auch die Reihenfolge verändern - da hilft nur rumprobieren, bis Dir das alles gefällt. Ist man fertig, gibt es einen Button "Hochladen", der das Ganze in Dein Profil transportiert. Sehr einfach, darum benutze ich's. Etwas Vorsicht ist allerdings geboten, wenn man tatsächlich eine sehr große Statistik erzeugt (also z.B. alles ankreuzt), dann kann das Laden des öffentlichen Profils auch schon mal recht lange dauern. Wie gesagt, das benutze ich, allerdings ohne die Badges, auf die ich nicht so scharf bin. ;-) GSAK = Geocaching Swiss Army Knife: Das ist auch ein Programm, das Du lokal installierst; im wesentlichen eine Datenbank für Geocaches. Das können dann z.B. wieder die aus Deiner MyFinds-PQ sein, aber es geht auch mit anderen PQ's. Damit kannst du dann alles Mögliche machen; filtern, zusammenstellen, exportieren, in Karten zeigen, PQ's zusammenführen oder trennen... Dazu gehören auch Statistiken. Der Trick bei GSAK sind wohl die Makros, also gewissermaßen "Programme im Programm". Man kann sie sich selbst schreiben oder von der GSAK-Seite (oder sonstwo) herunter laden, wenn man das Rad nicht nochmal erfinden will. Es gibt Makros, die verschiedene Statistiken erzeugen, und mindestens eins, das die BadgeGen-Badges erzeugt. GSAK habe ich mir immer mal wieder angesehen, aber ich fand es dann doch immer eine Nummer zu groß/sperrig/aufwändig für mich - das mag aber auch ein Vorurteil sein, denn wirklich installiert und ausprobiert habe ich es nie. Viele Cacher schwören darauf. Vielleicht probier' ich's doch noch mal aus, jetzt wo die Abende lang und die Temperaturen kalt werden. Hoffe, das hilft! :-) Viele Grüße T.-Y.

Exactly my senitment; I've been waiting for an hour now for the first comment to be posted. ;-) Myself, I'm not sure if I really like the new icons, but I guess I'll get used to them. Hi, same here; just as you described it. But fortunately it's only with entering new changed coordinates; as far as I can see, coordinates I changed before have stayed changed. It seems to coincide with the retiring of the Challenges and with the new icons. BTW: The icons for "1.0" and "1.5 stars out of five" are still orange, not blue. Kind regards T.-Y.

Some thoughts on non-functional webcam caches, copied over from the other thread; I hope that's OK: Maybe we could ask for reason. If you archived traditional cache, you can hidden new. It is no problem. But if you archieved webcam cache you will never have new. And this could be the reason why owner did everything for not to archive this webcame cache and for her function. (...) Good point. And, of course, a webcam cache whose webcam isn't there any longer needs to be archived (by the owner, first of all, or by a reviewer if the owner fails to do so). As a pre-condition to bringing back webcam caches, maybe we should try to think up a simple way to alert the reviewers to missing webcams. With a traditional cache whose container is missing, you soon get a string of DNF and NA logs (at least where I live). I suppose this is then called to the attention of a reviewer in some way, who will take the usual steps (contact the owner via the logs, disable the cache, archive it if all else fails). With webcam caches, that does not always seem to be the case. From the examples in this thread I get the impression that some people will post and accept cheat logs on no-longer-existent webcam caches. Maybe a simple, more or less automatic way could be found to alert reviewers to logs and caches like this. Of course, the better way would be for the community to handle it by posting NA logs for webcam caches without a webcam. Kind regards - T.-Y. Certainly. Another platform (even though it's GS, too): unhandy, and Waymarking is - or has become - an alltogether different game with different rules. They're not, at least not more than ordinary caches, were physical logbooks sometimes get lost or unreadable. Using another photo than the webcam's is obvious and obviously cheating; the log should be removed by the CO (like any other cheat log). Again, this also applies to most container-based geocaches. A building site can block your multi's station, or a land manager will temporarily restrict access to an area to protect deer during the winter. I've seen both. The CO has to temporarily disable the cache in any case. ...as good points as the above? Saying 'do away with them because I don't like them' is not a good point, either. This is not about 'practical reasons', this is about the rules of a game. Many cachers log the webcams that are left, so obviously there's quite a lot of people who want them as part of the game. If you are not one of those, the way is not to forbid them, but to ignore them. Sadly, this is probably all futile. In past posts I've noticed that TPTB tend to go strangly curt and ideologic on the point of webcam caches. Knowing organizations, the reason is probably just that the boss said "No!" Regards T.-Y.

(Emphasis added.) This is one reason why webcam caches will likely never return. I think they meant they can visit the webcam page and save the image using their smartphone, not that they can take a photo of themselves at GZ with their smartphone. You don't even need a smartphone, I usually do any remaining webcam caches with my antiquated Sony Ericsson from 2005. Regards - T.-Y.

Hi, schöne Idee! Nein, zumindest beim Zählen der Caches zählt Discovern nicht mit; und bei der Strecke wohl auch nicht, denn Discovern ist ja nicht mit einem Wegpunkt verbunden. Beispiel: mein ständiger Begleiter: http://coord.info/TB3884W . Naja, ganz ausschließen wird man das wohl nicht können, aber schlimmstenfalls kannst du ihn ja jederzeit sofort zurückgrabben. Oh yes, there are some genuine Large caches around, though I admit they're rare. I very much would like to see the Nano size implemented just like you described it, but I wouldn't support renaming the other sizes.

Hi Kristen, yes it is - in a way. You can create a Pocket Query based on a bookmark list. Then you can display this PQ on the map, even without running the PQ. I'm using this to keep track of my solved mysterys. Kind regards Jens

Naja, warum auch nicht? Vielleicht hat er ja ein nettes Versteck kreiert und es geht gar nicht so sehr um das alte Gelände. Ich meine es liegen ja nun oft genus ganze Serien nah beieinander, da wird es bei 4 Stück auf dem Gelände doch auch möglich sein dem Owner entgegenzukommen. Für mich liest sich das jedenfalls nach einem recht großen Gelände. Warum sollte man? Ob es sich hier um ein nettes Versteck handelt, ist ja gar nicht gesagt und als Begründung alleine, um eine Ausnahme von der Abstandsregel zu machen, reicht das ja nicht aus. Ein originelles Versteck kann ja jeder für sich reklamieren. Gruß ColleIsarco Ohne einen der betreffenden Caches oder das Gelände zu kennen, würde ich mich _im_Allgemeinen_ hustelinchen anschließen. Mehrere Caches nebeneinander können durchaus jeder für sich und aus verschiedenen Gründen originell sein. Hi Apuli, es ist wichtig zu wissen, dass die Reviewer oft nicht aus der Region stammen, für die sie zuständig sind; sie haben also keine eigene Ortskenntnis und sind auf öffentlich zugängliche Informationen angewiesen. Wenn da über einen Ort irgendwo "Bahngrundstück" steht, dann fällt er erstmal aus zwei Gründen aus: Privatgrundstück (dafür brauchst du eine Genehmigung des Eigners) und Bahngleise (die könnten ja aktiv sein). Da ist also nicht unbedingt einer besonders niggelig, sondern es gilt "safety first". Wenn der Platz frei zugänglich und die Gleise wirklich stillgelegt sind, dann solltest du versuchen, das dem Reviewer irgendwie nachvollziehbar zu machen (du solltest es, finde ich, aber auch für dich selbst eindeutig klären; du schreibst ja selbst, dass du dir nicht sicher bist). Wenn das möglich ist, dann wird dir der Cache sicher auch gelistet werden. Viel Erfolg und viele Grüße Jens
