  1. Its more than just guns. Having a DUI record or criminal record will require you to do some extra paper work ahead of time(its all depend on how long ago was it), fruit, veggie and some meat is a no no, Pets need to have proof of shots from the vet(I noticed that most cachers love to bring their pets to geowoodstock) and the list goes on and on. Another thing is, you that you might need proof of a hotel reservation if you are going to stay for more than one day. (they dont want you to be car camping)Having enough cash or credit cards is another thing thats require to cross the border. I cross enough boarders in the last five years that I know the long list of do's and don'ts.
  2. Yea... I wonder how many of these people are entering into Canada for the first time. There's a long list of do's and don'ts.
  3. Are you going to be there? I noticed that you were in Hong Kong this year, right after I left.
  4. For years, I always wonder when this was going to happen. Finally! https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC86VDF?luid=81582c4b-b4b9-40d5-9822-2265468c6070
  5. I love taking my nephew and niece caching, I save the top favorite and park caches for them. My advice is to let them play and try not worry about the next cache to find. They are older now and want to find one after another. Taking kids along for high muggles caches does help. Lol.
  6. The status check used to be free and unlimited. Now it steal my balance points.
  7. Found some 420 the other week. ? No, I didnt smoke it!!
  8. I am noticed there are a huge painted rock crowd out there, bigger than geocaching. However, how you guys feel about painted rocks inside caches? Yes, I been finding those rocks in caches at a high level. I got mixed feeling about it for a number of reasons.
  9. I am not all that pleased about v9. Sigh...
  10. Not sure why you need to cover up the town/city names. Anyone can GSAK your logs and see about which area you live in. You got no privacy on GC.com. A fat zero. Every logs you make on GC.com is searchable. And it's really easy to do it.
  11. Looks like GSAK will live on. There's a update on that thread.
  12. I am now caching with my phone and writing the logs on the fly. Yes...all my logs are the same and I dont care. Dont like it, go find a new hobby.
  13. Well... I got a new one, getting private messages to remind me to give their so so cache a favorite point. That's a major turn off. I dont see any "wow factor" of giving that so so cache a favorite point.
  14. Same for me. I follow the rules but that's me. What other catchers do isn't my business. They aren't hurting the game. A high horse CO can cause a lot of damage to the game. This why GS want us CO to remember the spirit of the game, just have fun and don't go around deleting logs because it's the guidelines. Rule means right on the line, guidelines means around the line. It's flexible. Yes, guidelines does cause more gray area for sure. It's just a hobby. Just have fun. Don't be that CO that suck the fun out of the game because it's the "rules". Don't be that guy. I say it again, being a CO isn't for everyone.
  15. The real problem is, people spend a lot of money to find those grandfathered webcams. It's the CO fault for not keeping it maintenance. If the webcam is down, fix it or archive the webcam. But some CO don't and not paying attention and go back and deleted 100's of log just to a jerk. I feel webcam or virtual cache CO cant deleted any logs that's over 30 day old. Cant keep it with the maintenance, you aren't fit to be a CO. I dont have a problem with a CO deleting wrong log as long its within reasonable time. A three year old log is really stupid to be deleting. The guideline said you can deleted them, but doesn't mean you should. I always question myself first before I deleted anyone logs.
  16. Well, I got a story, there was two newbie in my area that logged my cache wrong. I could had deleted those logs but I didn't. I invited them to go caching with me and we had fun. Yes, I show them the correct way. If I had deleted those logs, they would dropped out and stop geocaching! My point is this... think twice before you delete people logs. If its an experience cacher, go ahead and hope for the best. If its a newbie, invite them to caching with you. I feel too many CO are armchair CO and too lazy to do anything but clicked on the delete button. Yes the guideline said you can but it doesn't mean you should. I feel that GS wants us to follow one of the example I did with those two newbies. Yes, they are still caching today and a PM as well. Our goal as geocachers is to grow the hobby, not kick people around! If people bend the rules, let them to a point. We aren't in North Korea!
  17. The problem is, the webcams got a bad habit of breaking down. People are going to take a selfie, the wrong way. How you are going to way around that problem? You can't.
  18. Yes, thats the plus side of it. I would make a special trip just to get that area of California. I dont think this will change any counties line but I might be wrong.
  19. Some CO like to be part of the enforcement and that part is really bad. Really bad. Some CO dont have enough to do and like go be in change and delete logs over very tiny details. We got rules, but doesn't mean you need to enforce them like a police state. Thats my point. Deleting logs when someone when way over the line is one thing, but deleting a log on the gray line is too much. You need to balance yourself as a CO. Plus, Groundspeak can go against you or side with your action. Sometime they aren't very clear of the action they take. This is why I don't delete logs. Rarely I do, I only did one in the last four years or so.
  20. Webcam is known to break down and this alone causes problem. People traveled 100's or 1000's of miles to find those webcams and they will log it wrong because it wasnt working. That alone is the reason I dont want it to come back. We got enough problems without adding more to it. Remember that cam in Hawaii? The CO deleted tons of logs that go back a few years? Yeaaaa that! Thats why I am not for having more webcams. Too many CO are on a high horse about "rules".
  21. Here's one of the artcles: http://www.latimes.com/politics/la-pol-ca-california-split-three-states-20180612-story.html Please, with all policy on the side. We are only going to talk about it from the geocaching point of view. From the geocaching point of view only, How many of you geocachers feel about this? I am sure many of you are working on the 50+1 state challenge(or even finished it) and this might cause a few setback(s). It will set me back as well if California become a three states. I never geocache in one of the "future" planned section. I do wonder how much headache this was cause for Groundspeak. I am not saying I am against it or for it. Its just a setback or more on my challenge goals. Anyone else?
