I know this is a n00b question, but how do you get the bottom two screens to show up on the 300? I searched the setup and custom fields to no avail. Thanks

No Eagle Scouts where I'm from. I was in Scouts for 6 years, and am currently a leader... (The equivalent might be Chief Scout, which is awarded by the Gov General, I never reached that rank)

I got the Oregon 300 for camping/hiking/canoing. Found the geocaching icon and got into it. The only issues I have found are: 1) The touch screen was way off. Finally read the manual and calibrated it. all good now 2) Weak batteries are a pain. When it hits 2 bars the backlight gets turned off automatically. 3) Use NiMh batteries only (this solves the 2 bar problem) 4) Sometimes the screen does not refresh, you get some garbled horizontal bars. Zooming in/out fixes this.

I was thinking of doing a Wherigo hike with the Troop. I think that 20 of us tramping through the woods looking for caches might be a bit much. If I can nab two more GPS's we could do it as a patrol challange inside a defined area but so far I've only got mine. Scouter Rich
