  1. Thinking of buying an android tablet and making that the main computer. Will I still be able to download pocket queries, and transfer them to garmin etrex? also is there an android app that will handle gpx files? Thanks!
  2. Just connected our new etrex venture hc for the first time (windows xp) and it worked fine and I was able to transfer a waypoint to the device. However, now my printer doesn't work. AND mapsource map won't copy to device. When I select USB port, it doesn't find my device "No compatible devices are available". Mapsource used to work with my old garmin on a com port. HELP! Thanks.
  3. Our Garmin eTrex quit working last year (nothing but a grey screen with a line on it). We'd like to get back to geocaching, but wonder if there's a receiver that: - will work well for both geocaching and car navigation - can hold A LOT OF MAPS (it's a drag that the eTrex wouldn't even hold all of our state (Michigan) - under $300 ?? If not, if you could address any of these questions, it would be helpful. Thanks. Should we just get another eTrex? At least we already have the maps, although they are years old now.
  4. Is there some way I can click the caches displayed after a search and print them (preferably a short version) en masse? When I go back and forth from the search results to the individual caches, the results are lost and I have to repost. I really miss mobipocket. I have a Garmin Legend. I also just got a Blackberry Curve in order to do geocaching with it, but wouldn't you know the place we're vacationing in Kentucky is an AT&T dead zone! Thanks for any help.
  5. I'm thinking of buying a cell phone - would like Windows with WiFi and would love the ability to use it to geocache. What would I need? What phone has the capability? What else would I need in the way of software, and how much would it cost? I have been using a Garmin Legend, and have also used an older Palm device and would like to reduce the number of gadgets I have to carry. I want the phone to take good pictures also, but I don't plan to replace my iPod with a phone so it doesn't need mp3 capability. Thanks for any advice. If this is the wrong place to be asking, please direct me. Thanks!
  6. When I'm doing a multi and try to enter the coords to the next stage, I must be doing something wrong since it invariably tells me the new stage is an impossible distance away, like 25 miles. Could someone give me step-by-step instructions for how to do this? (I searched the forums, can't find the original manual, and can't find the manual on the Garmin website!) Thanks.
  7. I'm a fairly new seeker, but here's an idea I'd like to see. If it already exists, please just point me to where I can find it. I'd call it geotrekking. Any member could post an interesting trip they took that featured geocaching. Here's an example of one we just took (and the kind of information I'd like to see included): State: Michigan Central city: Manistee Central zipcode: 49660 Date: April 2005 We stayed at the Riverside Motel & Marina in Manistee, which is located on the river, next to a boardwalk that runs between a park on Lake Michigan and the small city of Manistee. Motel website: http://www.riversidemotelandmarina.com/ The motel is modest, clean, and friendly to pets as well as people. There was a special that included the weekend plus a very nice restaurant dinner, and gambling at the nearby Little River Casino, for $99 (two nights) slightly more for a walkout room. There's another little motel right on the sand dune at Lake Michigan. Caches: we found 14 in 3 days. Four of them are within walking distance of the motel! There were caches on the boardwalk, at the beach, and in the beautiful Manistee National Forest. etc. This is all true stuff so if you want to use it please go ahead. I'd like to see other people post their caching vacation info. It helps plan a nice getaway. I'd like to be able to search listings by state at least. Thanks for this great site!
  8. I want to upload a photo for the travel bug we found, but I don't see where to do it. Could someone walk me through it, or point out something obvious I'm missing? Thanks. --- 5 minutes after writing this message, I found out how to do it. Hope I remember next time!
