  1. I can be happily Google Mapping along with a great GPS signal, exit out of Google Maps and try to launch the Wherigo Player and get no love. Or I can leave Google Maps running in the background -- same thing. I am using the "Manage GPS automatically (recommended)" setting under Settings -> GPS -> Access if that's what you mean by Shared GPS feature. I just now tried disabling it, then I went into Google Maps and set the manual settings to get it working again, confirmed it was good, exited Google Maps, started Wherigo Player, and voila. I'm golden. Of course getting the Player to play nice with the shared GPS feature would save users some hassle, but at least I'm off the sidelines now! Many thanks for the hint, David.
  2. Can you confirm that there haven't been any fixes to the GPS support, or exposure of manual GPS config settings? I'm eager to try out the new version, but if I'll hit the same brick wall with my bluetooth GPS receiver, I'll just wait it out for the next rev... As a reminder from previous threads, I'm running with a GlobalSat BT-338 on my AT&T 8525 (HTC Hermes) with WM5. Wherigo Player scans for my GPSr for <1 second before continuing on with no GPS signal. Google Maps, MS Live Search, and iGuidance all run fine. Thanks, Benj
  3. Hi, YONEYAMA. I have the same problem and the same phone. All my other GPS apps (Google Maps, MS Live Search, iGuidance) work fine. I didn't have a chance to try out the previous version, so I can't comment on whether it used to work.
  4. To add another data point to this discussion: AT&T 8525 Pocket PC Phone (aka HTC Hermes) running WM5 GlobalSat BT-338 SiRFstar III GPS WM5 manages the GPS connection, with GPS program port set to COM1 and GPS hardware port COM5, baud rate 115200. Every other GPS-enabled app works great, and I've used pretty much all of them. Right now I regularly use Google Maps, Microsoft Live Search, and iGuidance. All work without a hitch. iGuidance is the only one which requires manual GPS config. The other two don't let you or need you to manually configure. When I launch Wherigo Player, it flashes briefly (< 1 second) "GPS Device Detection in Process..." and then brings me to the Cartridge Menu. The satellite and bars icon remains red. In the tutorial, it tells me my satellite signal is too weak to put on the space suit. Meanwhile I can launch any of the other GPS apps and get 5 or 6 satellite locks. I tried rebooting, I verified that I have no other apps running, and I think I've run out of debugging ideas... Guess I'll wait and try the next version when it drops. Let me know if I can help debug this or serve as a guinea pig. Can't wait to take Wherigo for a spin!
