  1. I put out a cache to help clean up an area... and it's working! Indiana has some great trash cachers! Metagirrl's White River Trash Cache!

    Indy cachers?

How hard was it? At the time when I did it, it was pretty difficult! Lots of good hills, and a really great hike... A good hike on any day, especially considering that it was the final cache of a two-day, two-night 22 cache marathon! During that weekend, LAT and I added up that we had already hiked at least fifteen miles, and were running on just a few hours of sleep! I plan to redeem myself and hike it again soon, but take along my six year old... I'll have her issue the official opinion! A great deal of my difficulty was mental- I had no clue what I was in for when we left the truck- (good planning, huh?). (Not to mention all of the verbal abuse from LATimer that it took to keep me going!) Metagirrl
  3. Nothing against backpacks, strollers, and wagons, but if you have the time and the patience, make 'em walk. It's not easy at first, but they'll catch on.. My daughter was doing 3 mile hikes at 2 and a half, and graduated to 8-9 milers by the time she was 4. Maybe she's just tough, but mostly I think it was 'cause I was too lazy to carry her once she could walk... Of course, depending on the terrain, you have to be careful (don't want anyone's little peanut tumbling down the mountain!). Metagirrl

    Indy cachers?

(Hi Kit and Bluespreacher!) What's up with this? I'm away from the forums for a couple of days, and you guys go and steal my cache ideas! Just Kidding, but It's pretty funny, 'cause I was going to hike the KT a couple of weeks ago, and was considering placing a series of caches that would serve as clues to a final multicache... Finding the final cache would pretty much require a thru-hike, although it could be done in sections... Whaddya think of that? Maybe we should work together and pool ideas for a nifty group of caches down there I've never hiked the trail before, but I'm looking forward to doing it soon! As for Pixley Knob, no it's not actually on the trail, but fairly close, and certainly accessible from the trail... would either have to bushwack, or take the pixley road where it crosses the trail. I've got the spots marked on my KT maps...There are a couple of other caches in the general vicinity too... Metagirrl Metagirrl@hotmail.com

  6. I have started searching out a lot of caches at night recently, and I prefer the 3-D maglight for a couple of reasons... 1) It's Bright, 2) It's heavy, hard, and long enough to thwack ya with! My first few night caches were solo, and I'll certianly affirm that the flashlight gave me a better sense of security. (As though I'd actually run into another person at 2am in the middle of a woods). Now that I'm often seeking night caches with my new caching pal, LATimer, it only makes sense to continue to carry it... a couple of good thwacks, and he stops hollering at me when I'm driving
