Yup, had my first dozen with two biters.

You ask 10 people and you will get 10 answers.
I use a Source hydration system from Kelty. As far as I can tell the water in Goshen, NY has so much clorine in it that nothing grows. I filter it through a Pure water filter and it tasts fine. I also empty it when I'm done using it and let it air dry.
Seems to work for me!

For the long hikes I went for my lungs on this one. Thuro wool blend outer socks and a poly liner with gore-tex vasques, only for the long hikes. The short stuf I just use cheep tube socks with the same boots, and they work fine.

Yup, N2WSD here.
I'm an active geocacher and a not so active ham. I carry the 2m ht with me and a FRS also but its not on most of the time. Don't get to talk to to many people just repeater chatter.
-
I don't think they mesh, I carry my ht with me but only hear repeater chatter, no local talk. Most of my ham friends don't hike so I don't think they go together.
-
I use them, on chanel 2 also. I don't usualy call out but it's always on and I have never heard anyone talking either.
If i'm in the wods with another ham I will bring a 2m 440 hand held with me just to talk to them but I've never heard another cacher on it either, some repeater chatter but no local talk.
And yes I did pay for my tec license. N2WSD.
