  1. It sounds to me that the guideline is all about preventing damage to the environment. Which is ironic considering that there are those who will walk in a straight line regardless of the damage they may be doing by just that rather than following a path to the cache. Likewise when you get those cachers who show no respect for the area around the hide and instead of looking carefully will just pick up an object and if the cache is not there throw it somewhere else until they find it. Pushing an object into the ground where it will remain until the owner removes it, is imo not on the same leauge of disturbance as these 2 examples, and the fact is we all cause such damage when caching even if its unintentional.
  2. I don't see it is it the stone on the ground? Spot on
  3. Those who get lots of FTF's are usually dedicated geocachers. A local cacher recently got 65 out of 110 FTF's but only by starting out at 2:30 am! (would have got them all if somone never started from the other direction. if your unable to be up at that sort of time, you might as well not worry about getting FTF locally we say that STF is the new FTF
  4. sounds like an unknown cache type. (and I considered doing this some time ago) If YOU dont OWN the caches the cards are going in (stickers might be better) then ask the owners permission before placing the clues in their caches. If your going to do multiple caches with the same idea then ensure each card/sticker states the GC code of the cache it leads to in order to prevent confusion.
  5. seems to vary by location here the person who logs online first usually puts somthing like "FTL, STF" FTL= First To Log meaning they are the 1st to submit the find on the online log) STF= Second To Find meaning one person had previously found the cache the cache.
  6. Thanks. I have just emailed Red Duster so I hope he will be kind! He's pretty good and generally speedy. :-) yes, he published some of mine within 3 hours
  7. just this minute finished submitting caches for review for publication on the morning of my next event, in the past my local reveiwer has disable and lock the cache once it's reviewed until the specified publish time/date. you could email your local reviewer and explain that you need them looked at asap as long as there is not a large number of caches they might be able to squeeze them in early
  8. STRAWBERRIES oh sorry, never read the question, usually "im on a tresure hunt"
  9. A Multi cache typically requires either collecting coordinates for multiple physical stages. OR gathering infomation from a pre-defined location to determine coordinates. An Unknown cache can be anything from a complex mathamatical puzzle requiring a supercomputer to solve to a task that has to be completed to complete a cache for example opening a cache with multiple combination locks.
  10. My currently published offering (not a nano or a micro and it is gold)http://coord.info/GC37K3C do you want me to email you with the details for my next hide so you can check it over prior to me pressing submit? that way you can be waiting with your finger on the button
  11. It's "honour", for crying out loud. We're Brits, not Yanks. You've also misspelt "commemorative". oh oh, english language police about. Before getting all aggressive please consider that I or any other poster may suffer from learning difficulties of some sort which means we may not realize that we have made "apparent" mistakes. However, I will take it as constructive critique as I try to look on the positive side of everything so thank you for pointing that out.
  12. Good to see you also opted for the multi cache
  13. If a series is going to be set up might I suggest the following template? HTML
  14. Already put one out, and waiting for review. Have set it up as a multi (as it gives it a "gold" cache icon) with details on the gold post box being the clue for the final location. and the cache is a small not a micro. Have called it "Bringing home the Gold" but if a series is going to be done then adding the town name so it becomes "Bringing home the Gold: 'Town'" would be a good idea.
  15. The bonus will always be a seperate cache and will almost always be listed as an unknown cache (well most local ones are) Make sure you put the bonus out 1st so you can plan in reverse what is required to find it from the trad. And the minumum distance rule must be obeyed.
  16. this person needs to take up caching full time, his dog enjoys it then again maybe they need to take up caching just to be sure of putting them back in the right place!
  17. Your reviewer needs waypoints to know if each stage including the actual cache which is not going to be at the coordinates you posted complies with the guidelines. For the final and all physical containers, just remember to select "Show the details of this waypoint but hide the coordinates" or "Hide this waypoint from view except by the owner or administrator" before savinotherwise anyone could go straight to where your cache is hidden without bothering to look for the intermediate containers. Should you have to answer a question on a sign for example. then display that waypoint along with the question asked as "Show all information for this waypoint, including coordinates" Your reviewer will be able to advise on what you need in particular for this cache.
  18. If they were not allowed they would not include the "access or parking fee" atribute, it would just be a "parking fee" attribute. as you have to pay do make sure you have permission from whoever manages the land.
  19. cheep ones can be exellent if a little extra time is taken to prepare them. I usually remove the seal, apply a small ammount of bathroom sealent into the grove of the lid and replace the seal, I've had one of these cheep £ shop ones that come in packs of three located in the most storm battered part of a beach with no leakyness yet.
  20. Not found myself, but how about a dead body? not far from one of my caches either.
  21. There are some which seem slightly dubious though - some recent ones been put out some of which don't seem to have been found yet and there doesn't seem to be a note from the cache owners at all. I don't mind if they are of a poor quality as long as the overall walk is enjoyable and what better place to go round the edge of for a geocaching zoology student
