  1. You know how there's that box you can click that will flip your map to look the same direction as you are? Halfway through the summer, that stopped working for me. What gives? Any suggestions?
  2. In my opinion: If multiple people go looking together, they could co-FTF. If random cachers happen to be there at the same time, I'd say to the victor go the spoils.
  3. I can understand your frustration, but I think the loggers would be equally frustrated if their logs were deleted after they had legitimately found the cache. Maybe you could include something in the info about how you reading about their experiences to try to get more stories out of people. Maybe you could send a message to repeat offenders. 'I see you've found several of my caches, I'd like to hear more about how you enjoyed your day caching. Have fun out there!' I got a message from someone once. It wasn't prodding me to write more, but it was kinda cool that someone took the time to say they were glad I enjoyed getting several of theirs one day.
  4. On the one they did archive, it says "Since we're leaving the country, we have moved out of our house." ~ Not sure exactly what the details are. Someone on one of their other caches said they're in Australia. From the sound of it, it sounds like a permanent thing, or at the very least they'll be overseas for a few years. They are a family of four, all involved in caching, and the whole family has moved. When y'all say post 'needs archive' or 'needs maintenance', do you just mean when logging it? And eventually a reviewer will see that and archive it? Or does the owner do that? How does that work?
  5. What do you do if there are a bunch of caches in your area that are owned by someone who has moved out of the country? They moved over a year ago. Some have the official 'needs maintenance' icon by them. Some have a bunch of DNFs recently. And there's obviously no one around to stop over and check on them.
  6. I'd post online but not necessarily in the cache. Who's really going to read through all that in the cache when they've got more to go looking for?
  7. I used DNF for ones I actually looked and looked and looked for but wasn't able to find. Since you weren't even able to look, I wouldn't necessarily call it a DNF. As others are saying, either use DNF or use a note, and just explain what happened in your log. (Never mind, you just posted saying you resolved your issue. Sorry!)
  8. My sister in law and I were the FTFs on a cache but in her excitement, she forgot to put the date (and apparently most FTFs put the time too). Someone made it to the website before us and said they found it, but they weren't sure if they were first or not because there was another name. Clearly, if you see other names, surely you aren't first! When we made it to the website and each logged our find, the other guy edited his post with no troubles. If I were in your situation though, I'd probably ignore it. Seems the type of thing that would only get worse. And aren't there more important things to worry about?
  9. There's a book swap cache near me. According to the site, it's in need of maintenance. Not sure what kind of container it is. But I thought it was a totally cool idea when I first saw that it was out there. If you can think of a way to keep everything mostly dry, I say go for it!
  10. Sol Seaker - You misread me, I DO want to see them. Although you're right, I could just hide my finds and that would give me the same results. Basically, I would be able to tell what I still had not found in the area. Duh. Thanks! Where would I find other threads regarding this problem? The problem is that everything is showing up as basically unfound, just the cache type icon, no regards to whether I've already found it or not. EDIT: Wait, hiding my finds does nothing. The feature is just not recognizing the difference between found/unfound at all. (And oh yes, I see other posts about this problem now, too. Glad I'm not alone.)
  11. Not sure where this topic belongs... When I'm looking up a certain zip code, I get smilies in the list of caches near that area, but when I click map it, sometimes there's smilies on the map and sometimes there aren't. Anyone know why this is happening? I prefer to use the 'map it' feature, but with no smilies, it's hard to tell what's what.
