  1. You must live closer to that Big City than I do. I only have 119 within 10 miles.
  2. This hands down! http://shop.geocaching.com/default/cache-essentials/pencils-pens/trackable-trekker-space-pen.html
  3. I see two problems with having official Geocache maintainers. 1. It encouraged lazy cache hiders. In our area we seem to have many geocache hiders that fall into the following categories. a. Have a few finds and a bunch of hides and left caching shortly after b. Never lived in the area and hide one and don't care what happens to it. c. The whole "Boy Scout" issue 2. catch 22 ... You would want the maintainers to have already found the cache so they know what and where it is supposed to be. Problem with many or most of the high numbers people is they already have a bunch of hides of there own.
  4. Not sure if this a question or a statement. Lets assume it's a question. It is very possible to do what you want. All you need to do is save the kmz/kml file from google and run it through a converter. I think GPSBable does this. I think http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/gpsbabel/ will do it too.
  5. I think Cache would make a very reasonable name for a dog. Plus you wouldn't have to explain to every vet tech why your dogs name is (insert something weird).
  6. Get a big container and put the log in it. You are following the rules ... you get to have your joke ... win win.
  7. I see this advice frequently and don't understand why the need for different times on the different days. The satellite array will not be the same the next regardless of time. Each satellite should be roughly in the same spot at the same time of day. per ref they will be in the same position in 23hrs 56mins.
  8. If your cache is in an area with high res satellite imagery, you can use google earth to help find the cords. I would also suggest buying or borrowing a dedicated GPSr if you are placing caches. I find the smart phones to be good enough to get me in the area but as for finding the actually cords with them...
  9. I want this: Powershot D10 waterproof: IP8X Dustproof: IP6X 14deg F shock up to 4 ft drop oh and I want a Dakota 20 for my wife. and City Navigator North America
  10. I just generate a Pocket Query GPX file/files for my area... copy it / them to my Garmin Dakota 20 ... then upload the txt file when I get home. Why complicate things with extra steps, extra devices and extra software?
