  1. The surface (1,2,3) "pro" version runs a full version of windows.
  2. I've heard some places do this. Never experienced it though. I have one those. Comes in handy when someone next to me in a restaurant is to loud on their cell. Funny to watch them when the phone goes dead. Just curious to you verify that there are no doctors or first responders in the area when you do this? You may have just killed someone when seconds matter.
  3. I remove ANYTHING I consider against the rules to include: Explosives fireworks ammunition lighters knives (including pocket knives and multi-tools) drugs alcohol any illicit material food If the caches themselves are not allowed to be commercial or solicit (religious, political, charitable or social agendas), then per ("Geocaching is intended to be an enjoyable, family-friendly hobby, not a platform for an agenda." From the guidelines) I interpret that to mean that the contents should not violate the "commercial or soliciting" rules. Therefore I also remove all propaganda. (including religious and commercial) If I found a valid coupon I would think about leaving it in the cache but to date I have not found one that wasn't soggy or expired. CITO
  4. I will confess that I started that habit (tftc & tnlnsl) when saving field notes on my Garmin. It was a real pain to type out anything of length on the Dakota 20.
  5. This is just my opinion, but I would prefer that they just place temp ones and not register them on geocaching.com. It gets frustrating when the scouts saturate an area then do little to no maintenance until a "Needs Archived" gets posted.
  6. What's up with the hole in the hood? Is that so you can turn it upside down and shake the water out?
  7. If you wear a hard hat on a safety vest, I would predict no civilians would take notice of you.
  8. You should test drive one of the Pentastar powered JK's. They like to go fast. My JKU is rather cheap to insure. Cheaper than any of my VWs. As for the Gas milage. When comparing it my other / past vehicles, after factoring in Premium / Reg Gas it's not to bad. My JKU gets ~19 on Reg. My VW Touareg Gets 24 on Premium and my GTI got ~26 on Premium. Figuring 10K miles a year the Jeep is ~$400 more per year than the GTI and only ~300 more than the Touareg. Throw in the insurance savings over the GTI it's actually cheaper to drive / own the Jeep.
  9. I want a Nano event. More than 1 less than 5.

  11. Use a bug spray with a high DEET percentage (greater than 20%) to repel ticks. Permethrin can also work when applied to outdoor clothing. http://www.cdc.gov/features/stopticks/
  12. It's a micro. Containers Explained: http://support.Groundspeak.com/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=75 I would think you should at least read the rules. 13. ..as for difficulty. Compare your cache to others you have found.
  14. Size is the actual cache container.
  15. If you have an app or a GPSr that can load PQs from gpx, it's not that difficult to edit the xml data in the gpx file. Tedious yes, difficult no.
  16. IMHO If it's a coupon then it serves as "value" of some sort (to me at least). However if it's just an advertisement for a business then it has no place being in a cache. In the second case to me CITO.
  17. Extra Rite-in-Rain log sheets Extra Baggies Nano log Roller 2 sizes of Leathermans Gloves Few feet of Paracord Lighter Telescoping Mirror A few types write on anything pens Small first-aid kit Emergency pills (allergy, headache ect) Chapstick Bug Spray *Sometimes Sunblock Swag to leave *Swag acquired from the day Flashlight (Normal spectrum) Flashlight (UV) My Wife's and my GPSrs when we are not caching. I am sure I am missing a few things. -edit remembered some more "Tick Key" extra batteries picked up travel bugs I can't remember if I have tweezers or if I need tweezers. We also have a emergency culinary tool (spoon, fork can opener) because this bag 2nds as a "sh** has hit the fan" bag.
  18. I would recommend setting up a permit system like many of our local county parks have. In the case of Wood co there is no fee to have a Geocache in the park(s) but you must fill out / submit a form yearly. http://www.woodcountyparkdistrict.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=116&Itemid=132
  19. The x50's are a waste if you will not use the camera. I personally prefer the x00's (500, 600) because I always have my cell phone to take pictures.
  20. Recently a local cacher archived all of his ~20 puzzle caches. Is it rude to ask why? If it isn't would it be better to send a direct message or ask whats up in a local forum? Given that over the winter I had been solving them with plans to go to GZ in the spring, I am just very curious.
  21. I have a Garmin Oregon 600, however it's not in the list to add to "Your GPS Devices". Is there a way to submit new devices or am I stuck with my old device?
  22. I really wish there were a 'cemetery' attribute, so I could click that to ignore in my PQs. Today, I discovered a lt of WSQ that I had to put on my 'ignore list' one by one. Royal pain. We need a 'cemetery' attribute! I agree, but I want to PQ to find them. I have only found one Spirt Quest to be inappropriate. (The cache was at / on a gravestone with loose coords.(could have been about 10 stones)) Most of them have been very respectful (bushes trees fences etc on the property line). My favorite ones are the multis that you get info from a historic stone.
  23. You could just make yourself trackable. Then you wouldn't need a "cache" at all. http://shop.geocaching.com/default/trackable-items/trackable-tags/event-cache-name-tag.html'>http://shop.geocaching.com/default/trackable-items/trackable-tags/event-cache-name-tag.html http://shop.geocaching.com/default/trackable-items
