If anyone is interested, please email me @ jlofnm@msn.com Sequoia National Park 2007 Alabama Geocachers Association 2006 Geoswap Coin & Pin Club Oct 2006 Night Caching Great Lakes POP Up club Newfoundland Geocoin South Carolina 2007 (black) Snowwolf Geocoin Reale Geocoin (Nuestra Senora de Atocha coin) I also have the Geocoin Club geocoin with the mockingbird. I can't recall which month. These are all unactivated. I am looking for Yellowstone NP, butterfly and new mexico geocoins mainly. I am open to pretty much anything you may have to trade. Thanks Ron The Justice League of NM
  2. Hey Thanks a bunch! We'll give that a try! Ron
  3. I actived a TB this morning and it didn't give me the choice of what state was its origin. It went directly to activation complete from the United States option. Anyone know how to correct this? Thanks Ron The Justice League of NM
  4. Why are TB hotels detremental to TBs? I have 72 TBs out in the wild and I love when they are put in hotels. Please explain if you don't mind.
  5. If a travel bugs has a specific destination as its goal, it shouldn't go there by shortest or most direct route. Part of the charm of travel bugs is seeing the random, unpredicatable, and chaotic paths that travel bugs take in reaching their goals. Seeing such a route, in my opinion, is a lot more fun that seeing a travel bug that gets to its destination by the shortest or most direct route. If you want a travel bug to get to its destination by the shortest or most direct route, then perhaps you should consider FedEx or UPS instead of geocaching. (Note: upon reflection, even FedEx or UPS shipments don't get to their destinations by the shortest or most direct routes. For example, if you are shipping by overnight delivery a package from Denver to Phoenix, FedEx will likely route it through Memphis and UPS will likely route it through Louisville. Perhaps the U.S. Postal Service would take it on a more direct route, but that's why the USPS is less efficient than FedEx or UPS). Let's say you are in Colorado and you see a travel bug in a cache that has a goal of getting to Arizona. You are boarding a flight the next day to New York and plan to visit some caches on your trip. Should you take that travel bug with you and drop it in a cache in New York? My answer is Yes! If you drop it in a cache in New York, then perhaps the next geocacher who finds it is a geocacher who is traveling from New York to Arizona. As a geocacher living in Arizona, I know that many people from New York visit Arizona regularly, and I have found many travel bugs in Arizona caches that have been dropped by geocachers who last found them in caches in New York or in other parts of the world. If you keep the travel bug moving, then it will eventually reach its destination, as long as geocachers don't let travel bugs languish and they properly log their movements. Ken Akerman (a.k.a. Highpointer) If you take MY tb where ever you want it to go...why should I even give it a mission? I give my TBs missions for fellow cachers to get it to that destination. If I want it to random travel, that is the mission I give. There is NO charm in you not folllowing the wishes of the cacher who owns the TB. I find it highly disrespectful when my TB is clearly marked with a mission card attached that someone just takes it off the path just cause he wants to. I paid for it and just ask that others respect my wishes. It very seldom happens though, and with attitudes like yours I can see why.
  6. I feel better...I only ordered 1 coin. Not that bad of a loss...I have had worse.
  7. OUCH! You're a hard one to figure out here on the boards. Everytime I post something you shoot me down. I can't recall ever doing anything to deserve the treatment you give me here.
  8. Correct, that is why I put be prepared to hear from some cachers. But it is HIS travel bug, he has the right to delete the logs if he choses. I didn't say it was necessary. I have deleted some logs on lost bugs before and did get a couple of emails. I don't do geocaching for the stats, but I do understand that some people are into that. But it was my Tb and wanted to restart it from scratch. I have other missing tbs that I just kept the old logs and started a new mission. As owner of the TB, you have that choice.
  9. You can do whatever you like with your copy. What I do with my lost TBs is use the same name and call the second version II or Jr. You can give it the same mission or give it a new mission. I usually don't like to send the "copy" tag into the wild so I just photo copy it and laminate the copy and add it to the hitchhiker. Also, I make a note in the mission or description that the first version was loss and this is the second version. You can delete all logs and start over at ZERO milage, but be prepared to explain what you are doing to a few cachers who follow stats. I hope this helps...there is NO reason not to continue your TB despite the original being lost. You paid the money for the #, let it travel. Just my opinion. Ron The Justice League of NM
  10. As an ASU grad..how about the parking lot at Sun Devil Stadium for the event in Phoenix. Nice and comfy in July there.
  11. Thanks...I goofed and posted it down here when I wanted it up there.
  12. Hi all I figured I would give this a try. I am seeking a Yellowstone NP Geocoin (park employee 88-91). I have a limited amount of coins for trade since I am so new to the community. Send me an email and we'll see where it goes from there. Thanks for your time. Ron The Justice League of NM

  14. This is completely your fault and your's alone. Oh way too funny! That definetly got a laugh out of me! This has normally been a pretty frigid forum, no pun intended!
  15. Shoot! I was really hoping for Labor Day weekend, because that wouldn't be a kid weekend (surprisingly) because Labor Day 2008 is on Sept. 1st. I would really love to be able to attend this and I was going to submit a bid for it, but I went to an event last night, and didn't get home until 3am. So now is the first time I'm checking the boards. edit : Okay, I'm sleep deprived. I guess that was just their bid for the CoinFest and not definite set in stone? Consider a time when the kids are OUT of school. 3 day weekends won't work for people with kids who have to travel some distances. Just my two cents here. Nearly all times that are being bantered around are during the school year. I know not everyone in this community has kids, but maybe more will be able to come if it is in the summer months.
  16. I say the chain works fine most of the time. Like the other cacher said, I usually shorten it. Plus, I put ALL my TBs in ziplock bags, I think that helps with longivety.
  17. Alot of cachers out there pay NO attention to what you put on your TB page or any tag that you attach. Most just take it whereever they please. It may help some, but I wouldn't count on it. I have 72 TBs in the wild and my attitude is this, once it is released, it will get loss or stolen. I would also say that most of my TBs that have turned up missing are from caches that are stolen, not from cachers that steal them. A MOC can be stolen like any other. I say put it out there any way you chose and hope it survives! Good Luck Ron The Justice League of NM
  18. Boy, that would be two in a row for me to miss cause of kids in school. Chicago would be good for this newbie since I have relatives in the area. But like this year, I have kids in middle school and elementary so the date is a NO go. Good luck with your pitch! Hope it works out for all Chicago area cachers.
  19. I can swear that I saw this post recently...but I can't find it. I am looking for a little of the history of Geocoins for an article I am writing for our NM Geocaching website. I am also interested in the Geocoin forums history..how it was in the beginning to where it is now? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Please email via my cache profile. thanks a bunch everyone Ron The Justice League of NM
