  1. Great guess but no. By my reckoning there is a team in the Premier League that is a few years older.
  2. Change of subject now. Which premier league club is the oldest?
  3. Mike Atherton. It was his era I grew up and fell in love with cricket. Christ knows why when he was captian.
  4. heh ummmmm thats a DING! I read this today as well. On the Londonist?
  5. I had a cache planted underneath an abandoned car in the woods. Hoodlums come and burnt the car. My cache was a small slab of burnt plastic the following day.
  6. Thats a great example of drama in my book. Often the story needs to be told that accompanies the photograph.
  7. July Photo competition is here: http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=297989 Thanks to I! for choosing my photo as the winner. THEME: This months theme is Drama. Post a photo of something dramatic related to geocaching. The rules are: 1) The photo must be cache related and to do with a specific UK cache (any type including events), caching series or caching trip - please include a link to the cache or the GC.... code so we can see where the picture relates to. 2) Max two photos per caching team or cacher. 3) A new thread is started each month, with the OP stating these rules. 4) The winner each month is decided by the winner from the previous month - the new winner starting the thread for the subsequent month. They may set a theme if they wish. 5) Follow the theme
  8. Hi! Thanks for selecting my photo. We got the cache on the way into the park and just 33 hours later I snapped this from our seats. No special camera or lens, just experience in getting the settings right. I used a Nikon D90 with a normal kit lens. Shut: 1/60 Ap: 5.0 Iso: 800 White: Cloudy (It brings out firework colours) I took a load more panoramas from the night. Give them a look: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.364941536907722.80089.154163551318856&type=1

  11. Im sure I read on the website that the Geolympix will travel around like the real Olympics going country to country
  12. "It's been muggled" Often said by my girlfriend when we walk up to a a muddy area and the GPS is pointing up deep into it. Or also when she hsa looked for about 20 seconds and got wet or put ehr hand in something wrong.
  13. I've got opening ceremony tickets which I have to go get. Its all I can think of at the moment. SO it will be placed early next week with an idea of going live for the weekend. When it does Ill post a message on here.
  14. As promised: Poo Cache - The kdis LOVED this! It withstood a day of kids grabbing it so its pretty sturdy. Spider Cache - This wont he cunning cache comp at the Geolympix. There is a nano underneath. Brick Cache - Foam brick coated with weather reistant. Prob an underocver cache. Schroedingers Cache - My favourite. For those who know what Schroedingers cat is. This cache has been muggled and not muggled at the same time.
  15. I entered 5 cool cache containers in the geolympix yesterday in Oxford. One of them won. Though all 5 impressed. The lil kids loved the fake dog poo cache. Ill post some photos tonight.
  16. Wow reading this thread I feel like im in an old folks home and they are moaning about rock music. Geocaching has evolved the same way any game does. The longer you have been in it the more it will have evolved. You fell in love with it when it was 'pure' and what you remember. The same way my grandad still loves the long ball in football and double footed tackle. Fact is thought some people wont, or cant load up a 2 litre bittle, a gps, walking shoes and go blast some hills for 8 hours. There are alot of families and disabled people that geocache. And people like myself just enjoy taking 20 minutes out of our lives to grab a nearby one as the weekend schedule doesn't allow anymore. Events are what you make of it. I have been to a few now. Of varying sizes and enjoyed them all. Theres nothign wrong with an event for 8 people or 800 so long as the organiser goes to the effort to make sure it runs smoothly. I.e, a decent pub with food or a town hall with stands and games. I don't like how many 35mm film cannisters there are, by dammit I'm going to find them eventually on a busy day with a few minutes to spare. But if you don't like 35mm film cannisters then dont go for any caches under a 2.5 star difficulty. Those moaning about the difficulty and quality of caches. Well theres this system called favourites and youll find the better caches get points. So don't do any under 10 favourites and you will be fine.
  17. COOL! Is this par tof a series where you have ti find all 4? Is the bonus cache splinter?
  18. Resist Mellers. Its not doing anything to you!
  19. I admit this is not cachign related but I am a cacher.... so....... Anyway. I'm doing a crowdsourced photography projeect about the Olympics and its effect on the local area around East London. I'm after people to be in the project. All it involves is answering a few question and having your photo taken. Doesn't matter your background so long as you either live or work in East London. If you are a business owner and want to put me in touch with a business owner that would be even better. Thanks folks. Drop me a pm. Luke
  20. An update from the cache...... http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=b2ebaf59-da21-49b2-808e-ee1fb4a198a0
