  1. Ask them what they want for dinner too, and their heads explode!
  2. Aren't you such a clever boy! and you did it all on your own, with out any help from anyone else!!! Gold Star my lad!!
  3. Mine Have! The one by RAF Lyneham was fun getting permission. I had to go onto the airbase with a map, the container and also try to explain what caching is about to 15 MOD police officers and also the base commandery type person, only to be told.....SO? why do we want to know? GREAT! but at least I know, they know there is a cache near their runway so I can't be accused as being a terrorist!
  4. If you want quite and solitude try our cache Norman Motte and Bailey by Roving Rangies (GCQ1QF) Several way to get there, but great exercise and views!
  5. Just realised we did that cahe before we were into caching. We had stopped after a grueling 1/2 hour trying to get across the floating brdige. We stopped for a break and one of the kids in the group sat down and put her hand on it. We all read the log etc, but were nieve to what it was. This was about 4 years ago!
  6. I can inform you however, that if there is a very bad/fatal crash/accident like a car/bus/lorry/train, there are always odd shoes left behind. Apparently it the only bit of clothing that falls off when a body is struck or put into a violent shock!
  7. sticky plasters and bite and sting releiver. (No I am not going to pee on a sting or bite to take the pain out of it!) Nettles and insects, what mad male invented those too caching problems.. OOh! along with a male with a sore head and no sense of humour? Vivien
  8. what do you drive? I have 3 Range Rovers!
  9. If the forum was a business, then I would say that some actions by some cachers would certainly do harm to the status and overall appearance of the forum. But considering it is an information and casual site, I can see that it has several levels to which the site has to work on. First is the front end, It has information and tips etc to do with caching, so a beginner or Newby can get the advice needed. The second part is the posting forums. However, this area is not so good at promoting the art of caching. Here sometimes the art of knife throwing is in practice. Yes! I have thrown knives and will continue to do so to defend myself! (Beliefs are a different matter to which I will voice and opinion, but never try to enforce!) Unfortunately, if a newbie enters the forum at the time of knife throwing taking place, the newbie will automatically be faced with the decission of: A. Do I stay and see what the problem is without being dragged in too B. Friendly lot! I don't think so, if thats what caching is about, I won't bother with the forums! The above can quite easily put anyone off from actaully getting involved and learning further about what caching can offer. Yes! I do sometimes just see Congratulations on your *** find, and Happy Birthday to***, but I also see, he did this to me or him, I don't like that so I'm going to throw my toys out of the pram! I agree with Golems earlier reply, I think there is a need for more light hearted fun, for discussions and debates (Not the heated ones of recent) plus an area where people can vent off in! this area should, however be labelled as such. Hopefully with the area's sectioned off, new cachers would get the right overall opinion of what the forums are about, and not the image of discord or anger! Thats my say over and done with! The rest is up to you! Vivien Roving Rangies
  10. And whats wrong with taking my 4x4 out for a spin??? I agree with the points they raise, but for me horseriders do more damage than us Anyway off to Le France in 2 weeks, got any caches "up north" sTeamTraen..Brittany?? If your anything like me, I always tread lightly...its that equation about downward pressure per square inch involving an elephant and a styleto heal of a shoe thing. My cars tyre footprint is less than a walkers footprint etc! As for the thrashing about in brambles bit.... are we nutters or something? Do you think I am mad? No way! them Bu88ers hurts! I usually walk away and never return. Sorry I am not kinky enough to want to hurt myself on purpose.
  11. Lacto and Eckie do a fantastic job, at no time should attacks on thier decissions be allowed! OK! so we all make mistakes some time, but when constant checking of the topics and threads is required, plus approving new caches and with NO PAY! then NO personal attacks to them is warranted! Sorry! I certainly wouldn't want the job, not with some of the less diplomatic cachers in our lifes. I know what is being said about voting etc, but isn't it strange that thoses with the biggest gripes and mouths NEVER show up when there is a vote, nor do they ever really say anything positive about the way caching in the UK is being conducted? They should re-think their actions before critising other volentary workers! Better still, let those who really enjoy caching get on with it. I expect the slinging will be aimed at me again somewhen, but really, all mouth and trousers means that the likes of Ecky and Lacto have a hard job to do.
  12. One of our ones keeps getting found by Badgers! Yes! the furry kind! I have placed it back so many times now...I wonder if there is a secret society out there for animal cachers?
  13. Don't know too much about the walking side or Crow, not my thing. But the best way to be legal, as said in previous replies, is to visit the local council and get a defined map. I spent 3 days at Wiltshire County offices in Trowbridge. I do have a full set of defined Wiltshire maps, I even have listed all the ancient rights of way routes that have been classifed as unclassified. I know, that where I drive I am completely legal. As regards to dogs, I own a dog, I hope I am classed as a responsible owner, clear up after it, walk it o a lead when near farm animals, yet also respect other peole may not like dogs, so walk him on an extenable lead when in busy places. If someone wants their dog shot, or a prosicution for stock worring, then a dog not on a lead in the countryside is asking for trouble. I even know of a dog being agressive toward a car in a car park. The owner returned and reversed the car, with out knowing the dog was left to wander behind the car by its owner. The car driver only realised the dog had been run over when a miscellaneous speed hump appeared. Whos' fault/ Driver? Dog? No the owner for not keeping control of his dog.
  14. Footpath = for walkers only Brideway= for horse riders and foot walkers only By-way = for walkers, horse riders, cyclists, motorbikes and cars etc BOAT = by way open to all traffic RUPP = road used as public path (usually privately owned land) Rupp's are the only access that has the disgression of the land owners approval. All of the other above access is owned and cared for by the local or county council.
  15. Basically, as far as I can see. if a wall can be taken apart..rthen leave it alone!
  16. All reconised by-ways have public rights of way except when a Section 56 has been applied to vehiclular access. As for dogs, they have rights of way as long as they are kept under control. e.g. on a lead. Don't know if you know this, but appartently 8 feet either side of an open byway is council property, unless there is a wall, fence etc! I suggest you contact G.L.A.S.S. with this issue, as they love a good fight about rights of ways!
  17. Hate to say it, but they all look like possible ex cons!
  18. all we got was FROST! (North Wilts)
  19. Funny you say that, I try to leave plaster too! I found a nice range of hypo allagenic ones with Mr Bump on and also cartoon pictures! (OK! so who wants to return to the car with a Mr Bump plaster on the head?) Designed for the BIG kid in you!
  20. **PRESS RELEASE** Greener LPG available from 1st April 06 Mr M Donald of Mallard Farm, in Berkshire, has for many years been a Dairy farmer. After the Foot and Mouth Crisis, and EUC cut-backs, Mr Donald has since diversified his farming to produce a handsome income. Having run his farm and farm vehicles on methane gas produced from manure held in tanks on his farm, Mr Donald research the potential output of Methane gas from animals, other than cows. Eco-fuels Inc have helped with Mr Donald’s research, The findings are that Methane produced in fermentation tanks from Bull’s, produced extra calorific values than cows. With the Green house effect getting greater, Eco-fuels Inc have made and now are producing Methane from Bull manure that will improve the performance of LPG ran vehicles by 50%, but costing only 10 pence per litre. The spokes man for Eco-fuels Inc stated that because the methane is produced from grass, the costs are minimal as the bull’s do the rest. No processing is required cutting production emissions down to a record level. As of 1st April 2006, to obtain your Eco-fuels Inc. LPG, go as usual and ask at your LPG station and ask for it by its natural name………they will know what you are talking!
  21. Thank you! Thats to all those who sent PM's and emails about last nights Wheeler Dealer program on Discovery something or the other! Yes! the nutter was me, and yes it is one of my cars. One thing it did remind me of though!..........just how fat and ugly I am! Cheers Vivien
  22. Fell in love with the supecat2 6x6. anyone wish to donate the £13,500 to buy it for me? Vivien
  23. Someone said transporters? Most go down ou high sreet on trailers, but they also come on the road too! Not sure from where though, as we have no army barracks near us. I'm not really a great fan of tanks now! When you are car to tank with only about 3 feet distance from the end of the gun barrel, it is bl88dy big, especially when you have seen it firing a few minute before hand! The worse bit is informing them that the tank has to move, backwards at that, to let you down the lane they have just came up! Gary perfered going up in the army helicopter over Salisbury plain on illegal use of byway or not in most cases excerise instead. The only thing was he wanted to push the fire button all the time.
