  1. Any reports yet????? I read that this GPS unit has mapping/routing capabilities also. I am only familiar with Magellan Meridians and their routing - anyone know cost of software needed to do street routing, etc... Any input is appreciated as I have never used a Garmin. I can't justify the price of the tracker for my Pointer but maybe if it would replace my GPS also.........
  2. I've sent a message through the forum. Please respond via the email address. Thanks, the Neverlanders
  3. This is A Like New Magellan Meridian Platinum GPS with many extras Excellent condition - this unit belonged to my son who took excellent care of it - last year he was killed in an accident and I need to let this unit go now. It comes with batteries, Quick start guide, Manual on CD, Computer cable and power cable in one (lets you keep unit powered by 12V supply while attached to computer or works alone as power cord while traveling in the car). Has a good quality screen protector installed and includes the MapSend Topo software on CD. I will also include a 128MB SD card. My son used this for geocaching and for driving directions - Please put it to good use. Price is $140 plus shipping/insurance. email me at: theneverlanders@gmail.com
  4. Thanks! That appears to be the problem. I need to upgrade his unit and try it again. He has V 4.06 !
  5. I have a Meridian Gold, Platinum and 2 Color units - all work flawlessly so I recommended a used Gold I saw on eBay to my brother. He just got the unit and I made him a detail. Map loaded properly BUT there is no option to do "street Route" when doing a GOTO - just goes directly to "point to point". Has anyone encountered this? Any fix or setting for it? Nothing found in the manual. Any help would be appreciated.
  6. I just paid for 1 silver with PayPal. Thanks, CavScout!
  7. If any are still available - please put me down for 2 silver. Thanks!
  8. Thanks for the help - it seems that is the easiest and quickest solution. The laptop is doing the trick now but I think I will do the uninstall and re-install on my desktop.
  9. Thanks for taking the time to respond and to read about Danny. I looked at the page and it is a different program than mine. I didn't realize there was a difference. Mine is DirectRoute North America and there was different information for that. Nothing to solve my problem but I found a temporary fix. Using an old laptop, I loaded the program and was able to start fresh. It was very slow being an old processer but it worked. Thanks again for the help - I did find some good tips there, Dan
  10. First, let me explain that I have little patience these days to fight with software. 2 months ago my 18 yr old son was killed in a motorvehicle accident. At the end of this post, I will put a link that you can read of his too short time here with us. For now I will stay on track for my question but I prefice with this because he used to handle all our software "stuff". Our whole family including my Dad have Meridians. Danny used to load our maps for us using DirectRoute right onto SD cards. I have upgraded one of our original Meridian units to a color unit and my software now gives me an error that says I have reached the max number of GPS or SD cards that can be used and it stops there. The software is not cheap and I don't know what to try next. Can it be uninstalled and reloaded, is there a work around, can I load the program on another computer? I tried swapping SD cards and that works for the topo and waypoints but when I try changing the map it says security error. Any help would be appreciated. Danny would have been away to college by now and I knew I would be able to call him and ask but these days it is nothing but frustration that I just don't need. Please take time to read about Danny's life if you have the time. http://www.lightlink.com/dananent/Danny.doc Thanks in advance, Dan
  11. Email and PM sent 8:30AM. If still available, I would like to purchase. Thanks, Dan the Neverlanders
  12. I'm sure this is someplace in the thread but with all the quotes and 11 pages long, I have trouble wading through it all now. I am VERY interested in the automated downloading of queries from my mail into GSAK and also into my PPC - any idea when this will be available (actual milestone date)? Thanks in advance, Dan the Neverlanders
  13. Hey Fly, that is awesome! Harry Gant is now headed in the right direction. YEAH!
  14. I have done it at home also (sorting and preplanning) but nothing beats the "tiny PDA" in the field. This would allow just a bit more information than I presently have available (and besides, all the latest stuff is cool to play with). The Bluetooth setup is from a different vendor: http://pc-mobile.net/bta.htm the Neverlanders
  15. At the risk of sounding stupid, what is needed to run BeeLineGPS? Their pages seem vague to me. By that I mean they explain WHAT it will do with great screenshots but not HOW it does it. In other words - I have a Meridian color and an iPaq 2215 - what cables, etc do I need to use the program? What are your experiences with the program? Will this give me a better screen to work from than my Meridian color? Can I bluetooth the units (I see you can buy a bluetooth hookup for the meridians so it could go in a backpack with an external antenna)? I use an Otter box for my iPaq so I'm not worried about that. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks, The Neverlanders
  16. OK - it finally arrived. I now have Street Atlas 2005 and USB Earthmate on an older laptop (Pent3 600mhz). Starting to play with it now. Lots of new stuff over my old Street Atlas 6. I also use GSAK so I will see how I can import caches with that program. - Time to start playing! Thanks for the input IV Warrior and Cache Fan. I may be contacting you directly for some help if it doesn't go smoothly (and if you don't mind). Dan The Neverlanders
  17. I think if you are going in the wrong direction then you are not in the lead. If you are in a road race and take a wrong road that puts you way of course, would you be in the lead?
  18. Thanks! That is exactly the type of response I was looking for. Really appreciate it!
  19. Hi Kermode, Cable arrived just as described yesterday. Thanks for a smooth transaction. The Neverlanders
