  1. So today I have a screen on the GC map displaying 10 (traditional, member-only) caches. I can access 7 of them but 3 refuse to "give". How is this?? Incidentally, this represents an unusually high proportion of successful clicks in my experience.
  2. Actually it's very easy. Drop a pushpin by touching your screen where you want the starting point to be, then scroll the screen by dragging it so that the place you want to measure to is under the pushpin, and you'll see the distance listed above in the text area. Thanks, I like this suggestion better than your first, BUT if I drop a pushpin at location A then move the screen so that location B is under the pin then the display only shows the distance from me to location B. Did I misunderstand?
  3. I have a Garmin Oregon 200. I should like to be able to find the distance between 2 points on a map neither of which is my current position and they are not in a direct line with me. It must be possible. Surely?
  4. Yup we both do. Also just converted to a sort of formal workplace limited functionality buff that I call a cravat.
  5. I'm interested to find this posting as I came looking for a solution to the problem that a number of cache pages have important clues presented as thumbnails of the full info available on the gallery. That is to say should be available but, as you say clicking the image returns you to the cahe page without displaying the full size image. Only seems to happen for the author's images and not those uploaded when logging finds. Why is this? Can I do anything about it?
  6. I'm sure you'll get scores of replies to this as we all love our own kit and not many have tried several GPS devices. WIth that warning I will contribute that if you want a dedicated GPSr, my Garmin Oregon gives terrific paperless caching and is well integrated with activities on the Geocaching website. It is simple & intuitive to use with touchscreen control. I find it accurate and have no problems with my 200 version (the bottom of the range). It feels a bit bulky in comparison to modern mobile phones. By the way, this came to me as an early birthday present and I regard it as one of my best pressies for years (I wonder what I'll get when the birthday actually arrives!?)
  7. Having now cut my teeth on the traditional caches where the co-ordinates guide you to the cache I'm finding that there are a myriad of puzzles to make life more difficult for the hunter. Mystery codes, cryptogram and suchlike are all over the place. Some of these I can sort out but some make my brain hurt! I bet these are fertile topics of conversation on the forum - but where? Can someone point me in the right direction, please?
