  1.

Well, took longer than I thought but there it is.

Once again, something done to REWARD one group is seen as being exlcusionary of another.

    I'm soooo tired of this.

I know you are a great guy,but can't you see the irony in your statement?

something done to REWARD one group is seen as being EXCLUSIONARY of another.

That is an example of why I posted what I did.

  2. I like the coin, and I am planning a road trip to MD for an APE cache this year. However I will not purchase this coin because you are discriminating against those that have not yet found it. I don't care which metals you mint, and I find it absurd that people would "police" the logs. This is just plain silly behavior, and alot of work to sell a coin. Best wishes to you........

As I said "I like your coin" and your idea does have merit. I know that finding an APE cache was highly rewarding to each and every one of you. I am sure it will be rewarding to me. I just think that some things that were said could have been handled a bit differently. I guess that it was some of those comments that drove me to write the above statement and not the coin, or it's designer/producer. To all that I offended I am truly sorry. I wish you nothing but the best.......

  4. I like micros...QUALITY micros to be exact. I have NEVER done a restaurant/urban micro that sparked my interest or gave me that WOW factor. IMHO the only reason they are placed is to increase one's numbers.99% are placed WITHOUT permission and you assume all risks looking for them. I find no interest in a dumpster, drain pipe, stop sign, bush, pay phone and so forth. To each their own!!

  5. That's not quite right. According to the opinions I've seen in the geocoin community ebay is NOT a fair comparison for pricing coins. Ebay is good for the seller, not the buyer. Also some coins on ebay are being auctioned for charities and people are donating money, not axactly the same as buying, so you can't compare to those at all.

While I aggree that charity auctions do not give a realistic picture of a coin's value, I couldn't disagree more that it is not generally a fair arbiter of pricing on coins. Particularly since the larger number of coins have become available, the Ebay market has become very efficient. Much fewer wild swings. Given a sufficient number of completed auctions to compare, It is a very good indicator of a coin's value relative to other coins.

I disagree with this too. Ebay is not a fair pricing tool. The seller wins all the time. Do you think it is fair to pay eight dollars for a coin and sell it between eighteen and twenty-six? The only thing Ebay is good for is driving the prices sky high. I know many people that purchase extra coins just so they can sell them at a higher price and that profit funds their next coin purchase. A FAIR price is what YOU paid for it!

  7. I told S I'd stay out of this, but I can't. And I know I'll regret it later.

When the representative of SCGO announced it's planned existence at the Geoholics Meeting, he talked about many things.

But the thing that stuck in my mind most was that if they don't approve of someone, they would 'Black Ball' them. These are his words. They are not my interpretation. 'Black Ball' is a direct quote. So if you're wondering if this has happened to you, don't waste any more mental energy.

That was how they planned to control the behavior of folks who they felt weren't 'following the rules of proper ettiquette' or didn't meet their standards.

SCGO Rep - I'm sorry if this hurts your feelings. I consider you to be a friend. But if what you said at the meeting is now in practice I am very disappointed.

    - T of TandS

This is funny...but right on target! Here is a direct cut and paste from the forum:

There have been a lot of comments made in the Groundspeak Forums. It would be inappropriate to respond to them. Enough said. It's a free world, but please try to hold yourself back and not respond as individual members.

Likewise, please keep in mind this is a family-oriented organization. Thanks in advance for keeping your comments and thoughts in these forums consistent with that goal.

So this only confirms that the SCGO is a PRIVATE organization with their own personal agenda! Shame...Shame... I too am disappointed. I think the more that this circus comes to light, you will find that the SCGO is not what it claims to be! As far as family-oriented is concerned, more bologna. You can blackball, blueball, redball, or greenball anybody you choose, but after all the smoke clears and the real truth comes out, the only ball left is the "EIGHTBALL". Will you be behind it? :anibad:

My bologna has a first name...........

  8. After what B&C posted I can no longer hold my tounge. I was not at the last meeting when this SCGO bomb was dropped, but I think it belongs right there with Oscar Mayer. I think this is a result of several (or one) cacher not getting their way about certain issues, and instead of going through the proper channels just decided to go rogue. I believe that if you follow the guidelines on GC.com you should be fine. New etiquette and hiding practices are not needed. Self-reflection...what a joke. Try selfish and childish they fit much better. I think that the people involved in this should rethink what you are doing to the cachers in SC. In a time where we need unity and hope, trust and understanding, you the SCGO and what you state in your website and practices are undermining and tearing apart what little unity we have left. I for one as a cacher, don't want you to speak in my behalf to any business, representative, organization, or individual commercial or private. I wonder just how much damage has been done so far, by proxy representation. Stop this nonsense and quit promoting personal agenda!

  9. SCGO?

Wow! I must really be out of the loop. I tried to join, but haven't gotten my email confirmation back.

Don't feel bad CR...Most of the people that are on there were invited. I was not one of them either.

Since this coin does not represent the people's interest, I will not be purchasing any.

  10. Due to the nature of this topic, and the misunderstandings that occured, I would like to make a request that the moderators please change the thread to "SOUTH CAROLINA TRACKABLE GEOCOIN" to avoid future conflicts. I apologize to the caching community in general for going so far off topic. I agree we need to retire the word "official".

  11. This coin will be created for all to enjoy. If anyone from South Carolina wants previews feel free to email me or Geoholic28. The general public won't see the design until it is finalized. Sorry... We really are trying to respect the wishes of all.

  12. .. who are you to say they can't?

I never said they couldn't. In fact, I have nothing to say about whether there is to be another SCGA coin. It's not my descision. Remember, this new coin is supposed to be the second SCGA coin, not just some other SC coin.

I take huge exception to the allusion that the first coin was not "official" or that somehow theirs is more "official." I take exception that the first coin was all my doing. Just read above to see how the OP has already caused confusion.

Let's make something very, very clear. If I wanted to go off on my own and create a coin, it wound't have been under the SCGA "label." To make such an allegation targets directly my integrity. I can not convey strongly enough how much I take exception to this.

This is NOT...NOT...NOT a SCGA coin!! Get your facts straight! I did not say that your coin was not "official" nor did I insult your integrity! Your coin IS the "official" SCGA coin, and I respect that! I am proud to have one. I don't understand your resentment to our project. Are you not part of South Carolina? Why are you not supporting us, we supported you? Matter of fact alot of people supported you. CR you have done numerous things for the caching community, and I respect what you have done! What I don't understand is why these coins can't co-exist? What is your problem with this?

Nevermind....I am quite tired of providing forum entertainment. If the public wants to speak so be it......I am also tired of all this crap and trying to please everybody. We try and do something good for the caching community of SC and we get this crap? All this combined with H3777 makes me want to commit GEO-CIDE. Screw this......I don't need the headaches............

  13. ...
Well, I had a point-by-point post refuting many of your statements--which you were way off on, BTW--but then a thought occured.

I wonder if your coin would be in the works if the SCGA coin was trackable and had its own icon.

Is this what it's coming to?

It would be in the works either way! I really don't understand your hangups with this project. I really don't give a @#$ about the money. I f I loose my butt it don't matter. Can you say the same? If you really want to debate this issue...feel free to post. I am not in this for the money...and for your above comment. You must be feeling guilty that you did not do it first! I have admitted that I like your coin, and give you credit for its design. So why do you continue to bash our efforts. We want South Carolina cachers to be part of this coin's design. You never offered the community that choice with yours. If you want opinions just ask...I really don't think I have to defend myself. So feel free... I will be your target!
