  1. How about a 4" holesaw, drill to the depth of the saw then split that circle with a chisel, continue this process until you reach the depth you want. Better yet, make it a micro. Or find a hollow log.
  2. I recently tried using a third party software-(Easy GPS) so I could try a pocket query instead of manually loading caches. I downloaded 1000 caches succesfully to my Garmin 400t but noticed it seems a bit out of sorts. How many can this hold without performance being affected? Can and should I delete caches once completed? Should I store them in the EasyGPS then download as I need them? I like having a bunch in there in case I'm out driving and happen to be near some caches. I'm still figuring out the software and how to best use it. Someone told me to try GSAK- can someone tell me the differences and/or advantages ?
  3. Lately for me it's been dogs. Last week a poodle snuck up behind me as I was on a trail, and bit my hand. Then his buddies, all six of them, including a pair of large doberman's, surrounded me. I must be barbecuing too much. We've also had run- ins with wasps, resulting in mama getting four stings. She'll never forget that cache. A far worse concern is an invasive plant called giant hogweed.Stuff can blind you and burn you.So take care cachers!
  4. We started geocaching last summer and after reading as many online reviews as I could decided to get an Oregon 400t. It's got everything you need and is easy to use, even for a beginner. I love it. It is a little dim and if you use full backlight you eat a lot of batteries. That would be my only beef with it.
  5. Don't forget, cell phone because you will end up running late doing just that one more. Toilet paper, biodegradeable, unless you don't mind using a big leaf. Hopefully not poison ivy, oak, or sumac.
