  1. First of all, the NFS is going to do what they want concerning the use of Government land.. to a point... either deny the use of NFS land for geocaching or allow it. Then you have some people in the general society who are going to use the forest for whatever they think they can get away with. If you have ever been up in the forests and seen all the illegal dump sites that you just happen to stumble on.. and other activities that are not quite within the realm of (legal?). I can see GC on forest land if it is regulated so as not to damage the forest, but then how to enforce that regulation when the person that is doing the damage is out there with nobody around to see him doing it. Then the damage is done and guess who gets to pay for the cleanup and/or repair? To allow GC on forest lands is great. I promote the use of the natural environment for activities that are respective of societie's role as caretaker. but then again, to allow that use, you have to consider the good with the bad and allow everybody in the general public the same right of use until they prove that they are not caretakers of the land. All you need to do is look at some aspects of the land involved within cities to see what can happen. This is not a political post.. just my opinion.
  2. Hi, Anybody know how to get rid of a few icons that are just sitting on the choose icon and avatar page? I tried a few of them.. but don't like any of them.. and am really looking for something unique to my personality... long search of icons and images there.. but I have about 5 of these icons that I downloaded to the server on this site and want to delete them from the server.. They are not used in either my profile or the avatar for forums.. I have written to the webmaster but have not gotten a reply yet. Thanks..
  3. Hi, I found this link to information about GPS and I thought I would pass it along. It is pretty extensive and goes into some areas that tend to boggle the mind. How techy are you? http://gpshome.ssc.nasa.gov/default.aspx But it is quite interesting.
  4. Hmmm,, By this article, they haven't opened the NFS lands to geocaching?? If they are talking about doing so that is great. But, I thought that the Gifford P et.al. were already open to this activity? I mean, I have been up there already.
  5. Hmmm,, 800 finds is a lot.. With that kind of results maybe I can make the expense of it several years ago pay off in expanded ejoyment.. It doubles as an onboard map and use in Geocaching. I am still working on my first find.. I have been up there twice and haven't found it yet... but am growing confident with the help you all encourage me with. Thanks to Briansnat's adivice on taking it off the stick to road feature might explain why I haven't found my first one yet.. lol.. I'll try again tomorrow.
  6. Hi, I have owned a Garmin GPS V for several years and used it in a courier business. Is this unit now ok to use for GeoCaching? I have map and off road nav capabilities with it.
  7. I was thinking more along the lines of the laptop not being able to open the file type?? I know that on my regular desktop puter.. I have created links to sites but couldn't open them because the puter wouldn't open the file type... If that helps ya.. but then I might or might not know what I am talking about since I am not there to see what's inside your laptop..
