  1. Congratulations Glad to hear someone is having a good weekend caching. Yesterday - planned 3 caches on way to a wedding. Accident on the motorway meant we only just made it to the wedding without doing any caches. Today - Hungover, checked email, another one of our rainbow series DNF'd. Have just returned from visiting 5 of them as they all needed new sheets anyway. 2 had gone missing . Why do people take film canisters with a piece of paper in it? Maybe tomorrow will be better.
  2. All my little ratings icons on my cache pages aren't working either, they working on Friday. Think its down.
  3. Mine was my 15th find (At a Ferry Fine Fiddler) and before Skippy was joining in.
  4. Great thread to read after a hard day in the office.
  5. Find the location 1st, get permission, then build the container. Have done one in completly the wrong order due to extenuating circumtances: Got permission, made cache, went to location to place cache. It was a complete nightmare, had to take 2 containers in case one didn't fit. Luckily our 1st one fitted but we had still lugged 2 caches on a 5star terrain hike!
  6. We would definatly attend this event. Our preference would be The Peak District as well but I'm sure we would be happy to go most places.
  7. Wedding on Anglesey on Saturday, hope to do some caches on the way down there but will be in wedding gear - could be fun Skippy working on Sunday, Pingu maybe caching with our neighbours who we introduced to caching last weekend and love it . Monday - Maintanence visits to our Rainbow series and fitting some more caches in. Tuesday - Ikea - You need a GPS in there to find your way out
  8. I've just been browsing around and found this cacher with a rather odd hobby. Any idea what peopleing is? Is it geostalking?
  9. I was under the impression that a map didn't appear until the cache had been found once.
  10. I would also like to add that it would be good if setters could stick to the 1 star terrain rating means that its wheelchair accessable. Its not just handicapped cachers that need this. Sometimes completely abled bodied cachers are only able to do 1 star terrain rating and then to get there and find that there is a stile or there is a very rough path is disappointing. We certainly did one cache which was rated 1 star and shouldn't have been. I had my arm in plaster and a sling and I couldn't get to the cache because I couldn't climb over the large tree that was across the otherwise easy path.
  11. ^^^^ I was going to say that I think its sad that cachers are not rating their caches for wheelchair users. We have to admit to not having used handicaching.com until the last 10 mins because we didn't know of its existance but we have always written in the description for our caches where the terrain rating is low whether we think that buggies and wheelchairs can get to the cache. All our active caches are now rated at handicaching.com. We will now also rate all caches we visit there as well. We don't have any friends or family who are in a wheelchair so we might not be too good at it but I guess its better than nothing. I'm guessing stiles are not negotiable?
  12. I use a USB/serial adapter for connecting the GPS to the PC as the GPS has serial and I'm too lazy to keep leaning behind the PC to plug it in. I'll find out the make in a minute but I've had no problems what so ever with it.
  13. We've had 2 small caches taken, both had TB's in them and we really enjoy writing those emails. Going out tonight to check on a micro that has had 2dnf's on and isn't that difficult. I do have to question why you would want to take a 35mm film canister with a sheet with some names on it!
  14. We would remove rubbish if we find it in a cache. We wouldn't like finding it so why make someone else either come out specially to remove it or allow the next unsuspecting cacher deal with it? Saying that we've only had problems in our own caches.
  15. Today we had the pleasure of joining Kelsborrow Wayfinders on their 400th find at the Dee Bore Earthcache. The bore was quite an event that we all were impressed with. Congratulations Chas and Diane.
  16. We will be more than happy to cheer you on and provide moral support from the sidelines!
  17. Our neighbours did it (without the caches). Took them 14 days (1 x 15 year old and 1 x adult), both very fit. They went lands end to John o groats, apparently better for the prevailing winds.
  18. We always put FTF certificates in our caches. One of ours you will get emailed a finders certificate if you're not 1st, you deserve it! I tend to knock them up in CoralDraw in a spare 5 mins at work.
  19. We get ours at Tescos or Sainsbury's depending on where we're shopping that week.
  20. Jeremy has said that he does not want regionalised categories. There are already suggested regional categories - Veteran Memorials US only, Ghost towns in Canada, 911 memorials (would be US only) to name a few.
  21. We're in. Love these TB races. This looks like a novel one.
