  1. Well, I don't wear any type of uniform or anything. Gad...what I wear to geocache is weird enough. But, I do try to think of possible responses should anyone ask me what I'm doing. Some of my typical answers, "I'm a botanist" (and that's why I'm down on my knees with my head stuck up the crack of this rock ya twerp!) or "I'm checking how much radiation is in the area with my detector" (i.e. GPSr - so get the heck outta here if you know what's good for you).
  2. The forums are way too addicting. I can sneak a peek while at work but can't sneak a cache at work.
  3. Hmmmm....How about geocaching with other people?
  4. Thanks Perfect Tommy.
  5. Thanks much for the info Packanack.
  6. Will be in NYC and want to see Pale Male & Lola's nest. Does anybody have the best coords to view from?
  7. At first, I started bringing "outdoor"clothes to work and would change into them in the office bathroom at the end of the day. Next, I brought my change of clothes to work and left them in the car so I could change into them while stopping at a bathroom along the way to a geocache. Then, I started changing into those clothes while in my car and parked at the trailhead. Then, I started changing into them while partly getting out of the parked car. Today, I changed into them while outside the car in front of some lady. Gawd....I've lost all dignity.
  8. This was an unfortunate incident. However, we do live in a world where people abduct and abuse children and when that happens to a child they will never be the same even through adulthood. Neither will their family. If, you had children and saw a lone male walking around a playground or school - maybe with a pocket full of toys - I think you would be suspicious too and fearful for your children. You might even ask what he's doing. You might not believe him. You might feel it necessary to do something about this because you've read about men abducting children by telling them "I'm looking for my puppy - can you help me?" or any variety of bogus stories. I occasionally cache with adult males. They have told me that they won't go to playgrounds or schools alone unless they have a "female escort". Yes, it is too bad that life is like this but sadly, that's the reality. In 1987, when I worked with sexual abuse and incest survivors the rate of sexual abuse was three out of five females and two out of five males. Those are staggering statistics particularly given the fact that those were reported abuse cases. Don't take it personally. I believe the woman felt she was protecting the children. The police were doing their job.
  9. I think it's a good idea. Kind of a buffer between owners and holders. It IS pretty annoying when people hold onto your TBs. As with many other TB owners, I've had cachers pick up mynTBs on the first leg of the journey and never moved them on. You try to send a nice note but it doesn't always work.
  10. Thanks for the info and resources. I'll be staying near Central Park South so will start with those.
  11. Will be in NYC the weekend of 9/09 - 9/11 on business and hope to do some geocaching. Any suggestions on caches I should put on my list? Also, I heard that it's difficult to get a good signal while in the city. Does anyone have info on that? Thanks in advance -
  12. I'll be in Texas - but in the San Antonio area for an ISB/Bangkok reunion. Will try to stop by for this event so I can meet some TX geocachers. I'll try to bring some of my Bangkok friends with me so they can get a glimpse of my other life in geocaching.
  13. Yesterday, I saw a pair - is that correct ?- or is it a set of - men's boxer shorts decorating a shrub. I think they were flannel so I'm assuming they were cast off in the winter. Brrrr.... A few weeks ago we saw women's undies hanging from a branch. Did the person yell "Whoopee" and throw them in the air?
  14. I've seen plenty of underwear on the trails. Do people lose them? Or, is the underwear uncomfortable so they just whip them off and throw 'em in the bushes?
  15. Haha on a webcam cache. They could all "log" it then. Geonudes....I like it.
  16. Thanks for the APE info. I checked this out and it looks good. We have a project APE cache on the East coast in Maryland which I have yet to visit. Unfortunately, I have to limit my caching to the immediate area between Federal Way and Seattle
  17. Thanks much globalgirl - I'll add your caches to the "to do" list.
  18. What a GREAT idea! I will bookmark this. Although I lived in Washington for some years many years ago - and, in really great places - Paradise, Mt. Rainier and Kalaloch near the Olympic National Park - I haven't geocached there. So, I'm really looking forward to this.
  19. Okay, thanks much. I will add this to my "geolist" which I will compile from now till October.
  20. I'll be in the Seattle area in October. Although I'll be with my really good friends, they're not into geocaching - can't imagine why?! Anyhoo, I'll be doing some caching on my own and want to find a few a day. Any suggestions for "must do this cache" in the area? Thanks in advance -
  21. I'm not sure I believe all these encounters.... not the part about stumbling across some couple doin' the nasty but the part about leaving and not watching...
  22. How 'bout a bunch of nude cachers spelling out "Geocache"?
