  1. Spoke to Lathama yesterday and we think that the Lincs Cache Bash could be the very candidate for a PDA techno masterclass if all the kind offers of teaching and help are still there. Could any willing volunteers e-mail him direct to arrange things. Allcomers welcome - I'm sure that there are a lot of PDA/cachemate/GSAK/GPS questions that need answering!
  2. "If as I assume the satellites transmit in the microwave band then there would be a greater absorption of the radiation; due to the higher amount of water in the atmosphere. " No they don't and so consequently, no there isn't!
  3. Try scheduling on a quiet day. Fridays are terrible. I usually run the older caches earlier in the week, so that I only get new ones on Fridays. As for updating, you could try the updated in last 7 days option, but then split it up by dates. T I've just had a quick count up of the amount of 'updated in the last 7 days' entries there are at the moment and it is certainly far in excess of 4250 per week so even splitting by days/dates we are never going to get them all with the curent restrictions! Any other suggestions anyone?
  4. Can't download caches from GSAK to cachemate...It keeps copying the same cache regardless of what I call it!! Could anyone enlighten me as to the corect way to do it in case I'm completely cocking it up? VMT
  5. God what is happening to this forum? Can't post a reply now! Good for you DG, this appears to have stirred up a hornet's nest...at last we have moved in the right direction. Well done everybody, hope we can keep the ball rolling on assessing cahes and thanks to Andy for posting.
  6. It won't be easy! I recently raised a point about getting cache owners to retrospectively grade their cache for wheelchair accessibility. I also put out a call for more specific classification regarding types of terrain (gravel, bark etc) which although rate the cache as a 1 would be prohibitive to wheelchair users. The post went on this forum and the main GC.com forum and both got the usual lack of interest as it doesn't affect most cachers! Sorry mate but it appears that no-one gives a monkey's really....
  7. Sportrak Ipaq 2410 and Palm IIIxe. Apologies if this has been asked before... Does anyone have any knowledge of: Does installing MS Outlook 2002 to download to an Ipaq 2410 on an XP PC which is running MS Outlook Express 6 present any problems? Does the software needed to support both PDA's on the same PC create any conflicts? Is Autoroutes' Pocket Streets any good on either of these PDA's in conjunction with Sportrak?
  8. Do you have a template/example of a certificate that we could adapt?
  9. Any suggestions to use with Ipaq and Magellan Sportrak? What is compatible with GSAK?
  10. Any suggestions what to use with an Ipaq/Magellan Spor Trak?
  11. East Mids event sounds good - prefer late Aug but what the hell! Will certainly do both if the Lincs one pops up early, but look forward to New Year if I am around!
  12. It's not a million miles from us either! Or is Lincolnshire having it's own one in the near future? Anyone out there know?
  13. A large dog left in the car works wonders!
  14. Sounds good, I am in the IMPS stand. Outside the CS for a beer sounds good if they have got the plazzy glasses in! We are the ones with a wheelchair! As regards the Newbie stuff, this is a retrospective plea for all owners to amend their own caches.
  15. As a consideration to disabled cachers could all cache owners amend their cache as to whether it has suitable access for a wheelchair? It doesn't matter if it is self propelled or pushed. If you are not sure how, try the handicaching website for guidance or just put a sensible note on your entry. I'm sure that this subject has been raised before but it obviously didn't make much of an impact..........
