  1. I can download the cache, I can write down the driving directions and get close, and from there I have no idea what to do. I go to geocache on my garmin, then GO TO, then what? Please help.
  2. Thank's for posting about this, I was going crazy trying to figure it out on my own and thinking I'm an idiot. Hopefully it won't be long.
  3. I am new to geocaching and would love to have someone show me the ropes, I have a garmin, went out on sunday and spent 4 hours in the bush, didn't find a thing, obviously I'm doing something wrong. If you don't live in Kamloops and can help here that would be great as well. What I'm wanting to know is how to read the darn thing mostly, I can follow the arrow but as far as distance and time and roads I am clueless. Thanks V
  4. If you already have car navigating ability with your Magellan, why are you thinking of getting maps for your 60CSx? Exactly, I don't want to have to get any maps... But I don't know how to put coor. into my megelin, Is there some other way to get close to the cache using the car gps then switch to the 60? I'm very new, and just not sure how to do it. Thanks
  5. Its a Megellan Maestro 4250 , when i turn it on i can enter an address but can't find where to enter coordinates.
  6. I have a garmin 60csx, but i haven\t purchased any maps yet. Is it possible to load the coord's onto my migelin then get to the area, then use my garmin from there?
  7. Thank you, I wasn't looking for a little open box... Your directions were perfect.
  8. Thank you for the 2 reply's, I did the log for the cache, now I have to do something for my gps, i have a garmin 60csx
  9. Well, I found my first cache, but now I don't know how to post a log. Also was I suppossed to tell my gps that I found it?
  10. I did it !!!! I bought one!! the Gardin 60csx ..Now what? V
  11. Thanks everyone for all the input. I have it narrowed down a bit now. First. I will get a gps for geocaching and forget about using it for travel as well. Next it sounds like I should get a garmin. This is where I'm lost, the 60csx has lots of great reviews, my concerns are, that it's an older model, does not have touchscreen, and doesn't have the paperless geocaching. Does any of this matter????? The Colorado or Oregon, seem like I may be out of my league. Plus the cost is more. So one of my questions is... Is it worth the extra $100 or $200???? In Canada the 60csx with the 2G card is around $400. Does that sound right? V
  12. Unfortunately there isn't a gps that does both well - That's sort of like asking for a porsche that'll be good out on the forest service roads. Car type gps units aren't really rugged enough for outdoors (and lack battery life as well as some features), and handheld units are too cumbersome to use while driving. There's no good balance (not yet anyways). Okay, well then, I will use my dads car one when I need it a Magellan Maestro 4250, not out of the box yet, sitting in the bottom of the closet. So I'm up for tips what to do with that one, I've done some reading about the garmin Colorado but it just seems way too advanced, and a bit more than I really want to spend. V
  13. Thank you for replying, I have been reading and reading and I'm not a heck of a lot wiser, I perferably would like one that works well for travel and geocaching, I would like to keep it under $300, but I would prefer to buy one that I won't outgrow too soon. I will probably do more that aren't in the bush and major hiking., I guess that's why I was hoping to use a normal gps but!!! Where in BC do u have family? I'm obviously from Kamloops...
  14. Hi, I've read the posts on that site, i will check out the one you have, i've seen it mentioned before, I just thought that they may have updated it... I really want one that does both well, it doesn't have to be the handheld type, one that talks when i'm driving would be nice.
  15. Thank you so much for your reply, I know that this is an old subject in here but I want to get a good one so that i don't have to replace it too soon. I would really like to get one that would be good for both travel and geocaching, I wouldn't be doing major hiking or anything, but I do want one with really good features so that I don't outgrow it. the paperless sounds good even though i'm not sure why u would need paper. i"ve seen the migelen type but found it didn't have correct routes in canada.
  16. I would really like to get started geocaching, I live in British Columbia, Canada. What I would like is a really good gps that I can use for travelling and geocashing. I realize that the handheld ones with waterproof etc. are good but I will probably be doing minor hiking, more get to the area and search easier routes, at least to start. I don't want to buy a cheap model that won't last. My dad bought a megelin and I find the routes for driving are not the most accurate. Please help me get started. Thank you
  17. I just heard of geocaching and I can't wait to get started but I don't know where to begin. What is the best gps system for geocaching? Is there one for both travel and geocaching? Is there a brand that is highly recommended? Thank you, V
