  1. In the first few years of caching our family grabbed an image from geocaching and used it to create a logo for our shirts. We cannot locate that image on our old hard drives. Would anyone have that background image available in high resolution?
  2. Not getting any notifications of my own caches hidden- 76 in Manitoba nor of new ones within my search area and we have a huge caching event going on. I have a hotmail account. Meanwhile my sister TeamViper of Alberta is also having the same issues. No updates by email at all. She has a SHAW account. Definitely a Groundspeak issue. HELP! SOON.
  3. This cacher must be banned - he is formerly known as geojihad and has all kinds of names and he remembers TB numbers and harrasses those of us who have these TB's and virtually and sometimes physcally steals our bugs from us. HELP - who in Groundspeak bans these guys. Let me know who to contact to get this guy gone - can't Groundspeak sue this guy? http://www.geocaching.com/profile/?guid=fe...7e-3abeaae831cc
  4. We're having our first great hiding blitz in Manitoba and invite all you cachers from other provinces to join us in finding! We're hoping to add a lot of caches to our province that are well thought out and a lot of fun. Then join us for a barbeque to celebrate on June 3rd! The stats http://members.shaw.ca/mayblitz/caches.html The event http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...59-4e0e50ec3643 If any of you really generous cachers wish to donate some small prizes we'd appreciate that too! We've already had some great geocoin donations for this, our FIRST hiding event! Thank you. Have a great spring!
  5. I'd love to host an event that would encourage cachers to place caches on a certain day and gather to celebrate afterward...Does anyone have an example of where this has been done? How does one make sure cachers don't hide in the same areas next to other cachers? Do you divide the city etc. into areas and have them go and hide in a specific area. Would you gather the cachers in the morning for breakfast and then send the pre-made caches (a variety of sizes ) with them to hide and submit to geocaching.com ? Our association could use some encouragement and a boost to this sport in our province of Manitoba... Links would be good if you have examples of caching events like this...
  6. Thank you for the responses. Am waiting to close trades and then I'll report if I have any left! Thanks for those who responded.
  7. Fairly new to trading geocoins but have 10 to swap with other cachers for various coins. Let me know if you're interested in our coin and I can email you a picture. We will include our signature item as well which is a homemade maple leaf stamped 1Q4J. loewenranger@hotmail.com
  8. My sister just emailed for help. Her GPS worked in Ethiopia just great but not getting signal properly in Kenya and wanted to do some caches. Someone there told her it needed to be reprogrammed. I'm not certain what the specific problem is -any ideas?
  9. Any of you Regina cachers willing to let us know which caches are winter-friendly? I know all the regina school board ones are disabled in winter which is too bad. We'll be up in your neck of the woods between Xmas and New Years. Maybe we'll hide a cache or get some family members to do so! We will be heading to Regina from Yorkton so a list of which ones to get on the way there'd be nice. After Regina its back to Winnipeg on the #1.
  10. http://www.encyclopedia-titanica.org/index.php is a website with a good starting place to find areas/people of interest connected with Titanic around the world. This website would also probably love to have a link back to Waymarking eventually if you host a Titanic co-ordinate set.
  11. Since we have a son who is an avid Titanic fanatic we'd love to have pinpointed accessible locations in every province/territory of Canada, every state in the U.S., and countries round the world that are specifically connected to the building, sinking, survivors or victims of the Titanic. Some type of proof would have to be given of the locations connection to the great and doomed ship called the Titanic.
  12. Added the letters TCDNMB to The Pause That Refreshes and 2 YLHDMB caches Duck, Duck, Goose! and Happy Rock Hideout. I'd still like some lettering for several of mine just a couple of miles off the Yellowhead route. The Yellowhead deliberately misses several amazing towns and I'm hoping travellers won't miss these caches just because they're not rated at a 2 or because they are 10 miles off the highway instead of 1. These towns are dying as it is and have stories that need to be heard. I'd certainly like the option of going 10 miles off. How about an added X for Xtra good or something? (I still use miles because the change to kms happened in grade 5 and I never have switched mentally plus being from a rural community metric just never quite caught on.)
  13. Sure would love to see some caches in Regina that wouldn't be disabled in winter like all those Regina School Board ones. We would've done them if...Making them year round seems to help the game in Manitoba. Just hide em a little higher...And/or make them a little smaller. Hwy #1 Caches would be great and please don't neglect the old Yellowhead.
  14. While reading up on random caches half a year ago, I stumbled across a horror story in a log about a guy that ended up in a very rough urban neighbourhood, looking for a cache in the evening and having a bad fright. I cannot locate that log ffor the life of me. Can anybody point me to one or more of these type of urban adventure stories? I thought I'd write a bit of an article for our local Geocaching Association on this topic.
  15. Congrats Junglehair. Hope you add a bunch back here in Manitoba to get to 1000! I wouldn't mind if you'd send us some of your best hide ideas (that would suit the Prairie's) so we could keep on spreading the fever in Manitoba. Awesome!!
  16. Every Princess Auto? Manitoba, Saskatchewan? Where?
  17. So when is the Turtle Mountain Community Festival? Maybe a bunch of us from the Greater Winnipeg and surrounding rural could descend on your area during that time as an MBGA outing. And of course do a bunch of your caches and perhaps set some up for you to do.
  18. Amazing photos! Streams in the desert. Can't imagine how you have the nerve to cache out there. Somehow I'd be thinking that someone would hide mines nearby. Is that any kind of a fear? Sorry I know nothing about the Arabian Penninsula but hey we're stuck in knee deep snow here in Manitoba in a nice safe little village where we seldom lock our doors.
  19. Maybe we should all wear "I'm Gump" or "No I'm Gump" shirts Anybody could actually come as Gump I suppose - maybe I'll disguise one of my Jokers as Gump. Which cachers has no one ever met on the trail? We've only met 3 - PBD, MHZ, and 1T of 3T's&AJ. So many questions...so few answers. Many put up pics but what does ERTYU look like for example and why did he pick that name? Anyhow - thanks Peter and Gump for making our day a little easier to plan and anticipate. I don't want to miss the meet n'greet just cause we're stuck on some trail in Bird's Hill area trying to find out way out!
  20. To my delight I noticed today that the March April 2005 edition had a well-written article on our favorite sport/hobby/obsession. We in Manitoba certainly got it later than many of you. See http://www.canadiangeographic.ca/explorati...asp?from=travel for more info. Its focus is on the eastern townships of Quebec. Might never find these caches but it is good to see our sport/hobby getting some high profile attention. Appreciated the intelligent writing.
  21. A Little MBGA Anyone? (Event Cache) at 3/1/2005 Certainly looking forward to it. Any of cachers from way beyond city limits thinking of coming? We're heading out early this Saturday again for a bit of a run on the Bird's Hill caches that have sprung up in the last number of months. That is if the weather isn't too chilly. Anybody know which of those are winter-friendly? Leroy, White-tailed Trail, Kudlowicz, Monster Box, Demolings, Griffith's Hills, Forget Me Not are on our list as well as finishing up Manitoba Minutiae. Plus which of these are the longest hikes? We've got limited time before the meet n' greet so we will have to scurry I think. "Come on boys - hurry it up" is a typical Mom (I mean Queen) thing to say.
  22. Tip for clear lock n'locks or clear rubbermaids: Just spray paint the inside whatever color you need- doesn't wear off and looks good.
  23. Tip: If you get the clear lock n' locks just spray paint them from the inside green or brown or grey to suit where you're doing the hide. It doesn't wear off and looks good!
  24. With the new geocaching webpages improvements our personal background images have become just a smidge you view on every side and wee bit more at the bottom. We can upload the image now as a background but it doesn't seem to show anymore than if its embedded in the html. Is that just the way it is now? A walk through on how to upload a personal background to a webpage would be good. Maybe I'm not in the right part of the forum for this question?
  25. Okay I read this first and then scrolled up. This one's in Johnny Carson league for sure! Very funny!!! Thanks for making my morning.
