It looks like most of the questions you had are covered
The only thing I would say different is the log replacement.
I've always carried extra logs with me and I will replace the log
And mention it in my log that it should be good now.
I just see it as gas is expensive and if I'm already there and can
Save the c/o a ride out there why not....
But slot of good answers

Hello to all of you!
We just got to know this "pay it forward" thread because one of our TBs has been put into a cache where there also is geocoin of this "pay it forward" program. It is a really great idea!
Actually we don't have any own geocoins (we have 4 TBs, 2 patches and 1 TB sticker on our car), so we would be really happy to adopt a geocoin.
Greetings from Vorarlberg (Austria)!
TeamOwletLunix
I will be more than happy to adopt you a coin but my computer crashed today so it could be a couple of days
I'm sorry but I'll take care of ya....

they are awesome hope to see one one day.
any of them ... lol

first id like to thank every one that spoke on this issue.
i have my own way of looking at this
but GS has made a decision and thats that.
im not sure what went on out side of the forum but
either way its not right to carry it out of the forums.
so to help out and keep the other forum from moving over here
im closing this thread.
thanks

agree with the above.
if its an older cache then put it on your watch list and if something needs done to it
keep it up.
there is a cache in my area that is at the end of a walking trail. its been out for 4-5 years.
it was placed in the state park without permission years ago. last year i worked with the parks and placed
caches on the walking trail. i went ahead and added those cords to that cache to the permission page from the park
and as i said placed it on my watch list. if it needs help i fix it as i do my own.
thats after i had emailed the c/o with no response. but i couldnt see archiving an older cache its easier
to just keep it up. and keep some of the history.
-
it dependes on if they are still playing or not. sometimes as much as we want to keep up with our caches
life gets in the way. so its not always their fault.
but i always carry extra logs and gaskets stuff like that whith me while im caching.
if i find a cache that needs help ill fix it up while im there. and put it in my log so that
the c/o knows and it may save them a trip out to the cache site.
i look at it as im already there and gas is expensive so if i can save them a trip i will.
also i never replace a container unless i talked to the c/o. unless it is just destroyed
and i have the same type of container. but i never just replace one because i cant find it.
but i do own alot of active caches and if someone emailed me i wouldnt get upset if they asked if they could replace one that
has been missing. or just do some maintenance on it. i would replace the container or logs to them when i saw them at an event or on the trail.
but some people may feel diff. about it.
hope that helps some

Also to add because someone will mention that moved logs were not deleted.
What Im saying is the game is evolving
A few years ago no cacher would have ever thought of deleting a discover log that HAD been discovered.
Now some cachers see it as fine. (right or wrong not the question)
What if in a year everyone thinks you can delete all logs
We have to look at the big picture as new players come in they will play their own way.
Just as everyone reading this has. So what's to stop them from doing it.....
This is a strawman argument, it does not make sense.
I'm not sure how it doesn't make sense.
I'm saying if gs will set some rules then it will cut down on arguments in the future
All of the rules we have come about because someone did something someone else didn't like
So why not stop it before it gets out of hand

If you still have the coins I'd like a list
Thanks

Pretty much any mojo cache by JoGPS or any other Jo cache
Any southpaw cache (don't let the rating fool you)
a lot of monkey brads caches
Clarksville has a lot of good ones also
Puzzle caches would be TomCreativeGroup and mike
(and that's leaving out some down in your area)
There are slot of great caches in the area

Ok guys were not suppose to be making anything personal
So that way this discussion can stay open.
I think the point is that if there isn't a rule put in what's to stop people from deleting all logs from all coins.
What if everyone woke up tomorrow and every coin you have logged had the logs deleted off of it.
And it showed you had no coins moved or discovered. By all rights as the rules are now that can happen
And there is nothing anyone can say.
All were saying is gs needs to lay down some ground rules so it can't happen.
So the best alternative I've heard is the archive button which would help both sides.
Then everyone gets what they want.

That's great
Thanks Moun10bike

I may be wrong but it seems to me that the one main issue that keeps coming up is that if the new owner of the coin wipes the history clean it erases the icon and personal log from peoples profile page. What if we suggest to GS that once a log has been made and the icon added to a personal profile page then it is locked on that page regardless of the status of the coins page. So then the list of found/discovered coin icons are seperate from what goes on with the coins page itself. Adding to that you could always have it so when a coin owner cleans the history of a coin then there could be an archived coin history page that accessable by those that have logged it and is not connected to the coin page at all and does not continue to add more to it after the wipe date.
I have not read all the pages of this tread, but here are my thoughts:
I don't like the idea of separating the icon and log from the coin page - I have several times deleted logs on my coins where the discovery of my coin has been done on an event somewhere in the world and I know I have the coin in a binder at home. I don't think the icon should remain on the cacher's profile then... (I always send a mail to the cacher explaining why I have deleted the log)
I like the idea of a "second tab" with old logs when the coin changes owner.
And for the record - I have not deleted and logs off any coins I have adopted.
I agree you should be able to delete virtual logs.
Were trying to stop the deletion of legit logs that were deleted
For no reason except for the owner of the coin doesn't want to
See the logs on his/her coin page

Good looking coin

Got mine today it's a great looking coin
Thanks

I agree I don't care for rules either but
If etiquette had been followed to begin with then these topics never would have started.
So when people are not that's when guidelines need to be set.
I don't think we need a whole new set of rules just something to keep everyone on the same page

nice idea

this isnt a bad idea but what about logging a coin wrong.
such as i was logging someone elses coins and found a m10b coin.
i logged it (but that wasnt the coin number)and later got an email from the holder of the coin.
it was an honest mistake and i deleted my log without a problem.
so if it didnt change the icon then i would have more of those icons than i actually found.
