  1. When I open my pocket query by dropping it in GSAK I do not see the latest logs. The last logs I see for any of the 400 caches are about 1 month old. In the GSAK heading "last found" the earliest dates are 1 month old, when I can look at them on the geocaching website I can see all the current logs posted up to the current date. Do I have an incorrect setting for my downloads or for GSAK?

  4. I have an explorist 500 with a cracked screen.
  5. The Nuvi is available but your Email does not work for me.
  6. Selling a New, never used Nuvi 500 still boxed with all accessories that come with it. A friend of mine bought one and had trouble with it, sent it in to Garmin for repair and they sent him a brand new one. Now he decides he doesn't want it. He also has a silicon skin and zippered case for it so you can clip it to your belt when hiking. The unit does turn by turn directions, speaking the street names, plus you can download geocaches directly into the unit with full descriptions for paperless caching. Already loaded with city navigation maps and Topography maps. No need to buy any additional maps. He is looking for $240 for everything including shipping. Would prefer to have payment through paypal.
  7. I also have a broken explorist 500 with a bad screen. If you have an explorist color screen, would you like to trade it for some accesorries?
  8. Seems I read somewhere if the cache name is more than 20 characters long it will shut down the nuvi 500. I know there are a couple of posts here that talk about limiting the cache name and title with GSAK. If you do a search you should be able to find the posts.
  9. ProMed Rick, your generosity is simply amazing. Truely a ray of sunshine in this world. Thank you very much!
  10. I have a surrogate son, a new marine recruit who just got stationed at Camp Foster in Okinawa today for two years. He is a good young man and always enjoyed going caching with me. I see there are many Caches in Okinawa and thought he might like to geocache while he is there. Therefore I am looking for a very inexpensive explorist that I can load some caches in for him and send it out to him in Okinawa. Inexpensive, because like so many people I have been laid off and have no job. I thought an explorist would be easier because I am familiar with that model but if someone has another unit they could offer I'm sure I could figure out how to download caches with GSAK. Any offers would be greatly appreciated!
  11. Just a quick thought, do you have the time and date set correctly on the GPS so it knows where to look for the sattilites?
  12. I also had the same problem with the Geocache manger or Explorer not reconizing my explorist 500. I am running windows XP and Zone Alarm virus protection. What I discovered was that Zone alarm was causing the problem. At first I had to turn Zone alarm off and set it so it would not automaticlly restart on power up. Then I would restart my computer so Zone alarm was not running. Then everything worked fine, The Geocache Manager and Explorist could reconize my Explorist and I could download Geocaches to my unit. After several Emails to Zone Alarm and changing some settings I finally got the zone alarm setup so it would not interfere and reconize the Explorist. I think it was a spyware setting in Zone alarm that I had to turn off. Zone alarm said they would note the problem and fix it in there next revision. Anyway you may want to try and disable your virus protection software and reboot your computer to see if that takes care of it.
  13. I had the same problem with my Explorist 500 and it turned out to be my Antivirus software. I'm running windows XP and Zone alarm. I had to turn off my anti virus software and switch it off so it would not automaticly start on power up. Then restart my computer. With no anti virus software turned on the Magellan Geocache manager could see the GPS just fine and download to it. Once I knew that Zone alarm was my problem I sent an E-mail to them explaining my problem. They had me change some settings on Zone Alarm and that fixed the problem, I think I had to turn off the spysite blocking. Any way with that setting changed I can now run Zone Alarm and the Geocache Manager. Zone Alarm said they would fix this problem in the next version of software. Hope this helps
  14. Thanks for all the replies, First of all I have Zone alarm security suit 2005. I use to run the free copy of Zone Alarm with no problems, that's why I decided to buy the software. When I put in the Explorist disk nothing happens at all. When I try to look at the disk with explorer it tell me that the disk is not a compatible windows format. When I have the explorist pluged into the USB port and look at it through explorer it will show a G: drive like it should but it does not show the typical folders that are on the SD card. When I click on the G: drive (Explorist) is tell me the disk is not formatted. It's very strange. I have tried turning off Zone alarm but that does not help either. The only way is to uninstall Zone alarm, then everything is back to normal. Maybe I'll go back to the free software of Zone alarm and just register it with my product key.
  15. I recently installed Zone Alarm and now I cannot download geocaches to my Explorist. When I try to look at the Explorist sd memory it tells me the drive is not formatted. Also I cannot run the Explorist install cd. If I uninstall zone alarm evrything works fine, I can see the SD card and use geocache manager to download caches. Anyone have a solution to keep Zone alarm running and have it reconize my Explorist so I can download?
