  1. I had the following code in my Urwigo cartridge function __LINE__() return debug.getinfo(2, 'l').currentline end and got the "You are attempting to upload an invalid GWZ file." error message. The function wasn't being called anymore. After removing the code I was able to upload the cartridge. Thanks to Ranger Fox for the posting.
  2. 1264ms seems like lightning compared to what I have experienced in the last 4 days.
  3. We are two weeks away from filling our geocaching calendar (A find on every day of the year). Does Groundspeak give us an award for this achievement? Is there a UK Bookmark List of challenge caches which we are now entitled to visit? Thanks, folks.
  4. In 2010 one of my favourite caches got archived by the owner. I quickly contacted the owner and was soon able to get the reviewer to unarchive it. The CO then transferred the cache to me. It CAN be done.
  5. Groundspeak, Bring back the log pages we had before 18th August !! I use dates to find exactly when a cache was last found or not found. In some cases cachers need to know whether the cache was found in winter or summer. If 2 cachers found the cache together then knowing that they both found it 'about 6 months' ago isn't going to help. And kill the avatars!! I don't need to know this and it wastes resources - your servers, my ISP connection, and my paper. Jollyquest Cambridge, England
  6. I haven't got any of the devices that would run a Wherigo cartridge. Is there a way to decode a GWC file and generate a paper copy of a typical Wherigo multicache? OK - it's not going to be a great multimedia/interactive experience and maybe there are some features that can never "work". I have a Garmin eTrex Venture HC and topo maps so I can navigate around the route provided I can access lat/long coords. If Wherigo could be made to work with the Ipod Touch then I'd buy the app.
  7. We found our first 150 geocaches without a GPS. We relied on topo maps, Google photos and good old use of a compass and pacing. We are regular orienteers so these skills were well practised. We've now found another 150 caches with a GPS. Apart from the obvious benefits, what we find really useful is being able to do a multi-cache in one day without having to return home and plot some new coordinates on a map and go back the next day. In the cities often a Google satellite photo is more useful. So try lots of easy caches and if you get hooked on this great game splash out on a GPS! Jollyquest Cambridge UK
  8. I recommend my current GPS, a Garmin Etrex Venture, which has features special for geocaching. It handles coords in lat/long plus national grids. I went geocaching with a broken arm after being knocked off my bike. I didn't know it was broken at the time. I did even more geocaching after it was plastered and I was off work. good hunting!
