  1. just found the Cobra at £40 including free P&P at Martley Electronics Don't know if they are any good, but they look like an equivalent to the yellow ETrex. £40 for a decent GPS is just nuts!!!
  2. A new GPS bargain. The Fortuna GPSmart £65+shipping. This is a bluetooth receiver which can also has a screen of it's own. Ideal for using in combination with a PDA for Satnav to get you to the parking place, from where you can put your expensive and fragile PDA in your bag and use the Fortuna as a standalone. Look at http://www.bb-shopping.com/
  3. A fail to find already. If anyone else is unable to find this cache, despite being in (say) 700 or so miles of it please feel free to log as such. And as Bob Geldof was once quoted:- Give us your..................................................money!
  4. The most annoying thing was that the cache pen wasn't working when I got there at 7 am this morning. Neither was mine!
  5. A waypoint file is a good idea so I'll get that done as well. A standard submission form is not really something I think is necessary as it doesn't really matter how people want to submit a walk. If their idea is different than mine (mine do tend to err on the side of over-description) that's fine by me. As far as a route exists and contains a cache or two, send it in. Scruffy or not, it can always be tidied up!
  6. Mad people like me could possibly be interested in suitably rural routes that normal mortals would only sensibly cover by bike. So as long as your bike routes are not largely on busy roads, feel happy to submit them. If it proves a popular idea, I'd be happy to include bike routes as a separate section. As for your comments, rutson. I had been working on a postcode database, but it seems far too hard to get working properly and as such I can't justify the licence fee to make it go live. I will try and get a map set up as soon as I have the time, and possibly some better form of categorisation (by region).
  7. Just giving this one a quick bump as it did cause a swell of visits! From reading cache logs plenty of people have walked from cache to cache, so if that's you please pop along and tell the world about it.

  9. Well, you could have waited until I'm back at work tomorrow. It's miles away from home. I'm imagining that snerdbe is already on the case, but then I'm nowhere near as dedicated.
  10. Having found myself at a loose end this afternoon, I decided to go and bag four caches nearby caches that I'd logged as a DNF the first time round. Normally, I wouldn't make a special trip to do this but thought it wouldn't harm as they were close together. Now three of these had me totally and utterly stumped 1st time and I gave up. The 4th was missed because it was too dark. Anyway, my point. Each of the three previous ones were all an utter doddle. The cache was in my hands each time within 5 minutes. Anyone else find this most annoying thing happening?
  11. A code? Is that really necessary for locating abandoned tupperware?
  12. Sorry folks...snerdbe strikes again...in fact twice today Do you have a direct internet-brain link? I've given up looking for new caches at work because it's in your zone!
  13. I want to:- Hit 100 finds (10 to go) - easy one to start with. Walk 30 miles in a day, finding at least 10 caches while still managing to start AND finish in daylight. Convince the four non-caching GPS owners I know to come caching. AND See GeoHikes become the UKs top walking site!!!!!!
  14. Have just added this cache for approval, so hopefully we will see it be realised in the next week. Keep watching.
  15. I'm away from home and the moment and can't get this set up, although I will be able to do it tomorrow. If someone else could do set the page up I certainly wouldn't mind. Get it done as soon as possible and all.
  16. GeoHikes is hosted on www.web-mania.com and it's been problem free. 24/7 live chat support too!
  17. Done. I'll keep you updated. Round of applause that man.
  18. That picture is Thank god I was oblivious to the fact the sun was behind me!
  19. Or:- DONATE VIA THIS WEBSITE It's (thankfully) very busy by the way, so you may have to try a few times.
  20. If you don't mind doing it, it would be a shove in the right direction as I'm sure your word carries more weight than mine. At the end of the day, if it only raises the smallest of amounts it's better than nothing.
  21. I actually have a legitimate claim (I think) to the unoccupied geohikes.ie but I never knew they cost as much as they do! Ouch!
