  1. @Renegade Knight- The sight of someone climbing a tree 6' from a police station window is enough to raise an eyebrow, regardless of what their intent is. The only think "broken" about the cache, per se, is a 1/1 rating for a cache placed up in a tree. I think I'll take the high road on this one, and drop a message to the cache owner. Thanks for the input, guys!
  2. A new cache has popped up in my area. Unfortunately, it is in a playground adjacent to a borough building/police station, potentially in a tree (according to the cache description). Taking a glance at the playground, ground zero appears to be a treeline near the side of the building. For several obvious reasons, this cache is placed at an ill-advised location. My question is: should I contact the reviewer who allowed the cache, informing him of the nearby municipal building, or contact the cache owner directly, be it by e-mail or a note on the cache page? The cacher is relatively new, and may not have completely read the guidelines for placing a cache.
  3. Thanks for the input. Regular it is!
  4. I am preparing to hide a few caches, and one of the containers I have is a 1.8L Lock & Lock. I'm undecided as to whether the container should be labeled as "small" or "regular." I'm leaning towards "regular" since the space inside seems to be comparable to an ammo can. Any thoughts?
  5. Even with public property, there's still the issue of who issues the rules & regulations which are posted at said property. Like the previous poster said, it shouldn't be an issue, in most cases, if the cache is placed with in the guidelines set forth on geocaching.com, there MOST LIKELY won't be an issue. Where you do want to be careful, however, is with places like state parks and gamelands. Quite often, these places have either a specific geocaching policy or regulations for public recreation, which would be inclusive of geocaching. My advice would be to ask. The worst they could say is no!
  6. Bring a friend along. This sport is addictive, and you may just get 'em hooked!
  7. Congrats to both of you! There is a cache overlooking the Delaware Water Gap in New Jersey called Marry Me (GC1E5DF) with a similar theme.
  8. Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County here. The cold weather has kept me indoors for a few weeks now. Where's spring?!
  9. I enjoy going out caching in the inclement weather, particularly ones hidden in the woods. I find urban hides tend to be easier in the rain, especially in small parks and shopping centers!
  10. Thanks, guys. I see what I was doing wrong now!
  11. I'm having difficulty creating a Pocket Query to list my finds. I'm travelling from my home state of Pennsylvania to Arizona, and have found a few caches while out here. I tried editing my current My Finds query to expand the distance on my finds from 500 miles to 3000, but I'm having no luck. It always changes back to 500 for me. Is this a limit imposed on Pocket Queries? If so, is there any other way to note my AZ finds in the same query with my PA finds?
  12. One of my nicknames is "smithie" and my lucky number is 23.
  13. Hints? Where we're going, we don't need hints!
