  9. I could swear that my 18z000xxx 400t had the 2.78gb. I jut hooked it up and rechecked, now 3.72 gb. I am wondering is garmin partitions the ram in some way for the firmware update. Now that it is installed and a time period passes (guessing) it has deleted the partition and returned the memory to the free pool?
  10. We just got back from some caching and saw the exact same thing. The compass was off (I double checked several times). We would be headed straight for the cache and it would all of a sudden switch 180 degrees. It sometimes took 30 seconds or more to correct itself and switch back to pointing the right way. And the whole time the distance was decreasing as expected. I was using track up at the time. After awhile I switched to North up and I didn't notice the problem after that. Greg I have notice the same thing. I had to get my GPS V out to find some caches. I even pulled the batteries to see if I could get it to "reset" somehow. On my last cache for the day, I calibrated the compass, and then stared getting true readings with the arrow. Prior to that I would just have to watch the distance to the final.. if it was going down I was getting closer. Sad, but that was the only way I could find the caches.
  11. I was lead to believe that if you want to upgrade to North America 2008 NT, you MUST have an earlier version of NT. NON- nt can't upgrade to NT. Anyone try this? I have city select v7, and would like to upgrade to 2008 NT.
  12. I received a replacement 400t from garmin yesterday. Did the update, took it to my sat free office, turned it on on 5 pm, it still displayed 7:52 am... yet another return for me. Called garmin today. They said they couldn't duplicate the error in house. They wanted me to set my alarm for sometime after the next 12 hour time period, and see if the alarm went off. they pretty much refused to swap my unit until the alarm outcome.
  13. My gps v in right next to my 400t. My five year old V has the correct time at power on, my 400t says 1:29., the time I walked into my office. My old etrex vista that hasn't been turned on for quite a while, also in the same bag as my 400t and V has the correct time.
  14. I received a replacement 400t from garmin yesterday. Did the update, took it to my sat free office, turned it on on 5 pm, it still displayed 7:52 am... yet another return for me.
  15. Flunked that test yesterday This GPS Has functions in it that I dreamed about, with great software and a big screen, but the case design is not something I liked. Hopefully Garmin improves the case design for quicker access of batteries and more waterproof. use a touch of silcone grease on the o-rings. There is a thread on how to, in the forums.
  16. My 400t arrived on Friday. My unit will not keep time, unless it can get a Sat lock. a call to Garmin today said that they thought this was a software issue and would be addressed in future updates (firmware). If this is the case, this may effect many more (all) colorados running the 2.3/2/6 - M chipsets.
  17. I have to assume (I know) that garmin is looking at the FAQ. I know they are looking at the survey I have been working on, and in fact received a reply from Garmin. It addresses some of the issues. You can read a copy at: Garmin Colorado User Survey Responses and Garmins Reply Enter your responses to the survey: Garmin Colorado Owners Survey
  18. So, I don't have any of this lying around. Where would I likely find it? --Marky Dive shop, Food prep (the use it on ice cream machines) stores, plumbing dept of some of the home repair stores. Rmove the o-ring, apply it sparingly, you want a very think coat, best to put a small quanity (think paper match head size) in your fingers and rub all around it. You should see no build up of the silicone anyplace. The treated o-ring should have a "gloss" to it and no build up. If you get dirt on the o-ring, remove it, wipe it and the mating surfaces on both pieces down with a paper towel, and then reapply. I am curious, but maybe am just dumb, I just took the back off of my colorado 400t and dont see an actual "o-ring" Where are you suggesting you put the silicone on this unit? ** Nevermind, found it. I was being dumb. I just got my 400t on Friday. Look for a report on my impressions so far in another post. Note there are TWO o-rings that need a VERY LIGHT coating of silcone greese. One at the battery compartment, one at the SD card area. By light, think "sheen" rather than any clumps of any size.
  19. Survey posted! www.Geo-x.org - Garmin Colorado Owners Survey I received a response from Garmin after I sent them the survey I have been working on. For consistency, I placed the response I received from Garmin at the bottom of the survey. We have Garmin’s attention with the survey, please continue to add your responses, and I’ll continue to forward them to my contact at Garmin. Thanks to everyone that has taken the time to respond to the survey so far.
  20. Ditto! Thanks! I'll get the report formatted as soon as I can. Lots of trends being noted on the survey. Still time to be counted, submit your data to the survey now. I am forwarding the results to garmin on a regular basis.

  22. Never! it will break down the o-rings Silcone grease is what you need. I use to rebuild scuba gear, I understand water leaking in where it shoudn't very well.
  23. I e-mailed Garmin the results of the survey today. I plan to e-mail them every day that I have new results. I don't know if they are getting to he correct people yet, but am not stopping. If you have a contact with Garmin, please let me know, via a PM. Yes, I am a garmin owner, and even a 400t owner. (due 2/15) I paid a premium price, so I can return it if garmin fails to make it right. That premium was around $100 extra, but right now I consider it an insurance policy. Sad that I felt I had to take a $100 hit, (*Yes, it was my choice) But so far, I have been mostly happy with all of the Garmin products I own.
