  1. My sister and I were hiding caches along a trail. We spotted an ammo can. The multicache had been archived four years previously, when the first stage went missing. We logged it, and removed the ammo can, and used it for another cache hide.
  2. Ah. One of my favorite caches!! My caching partner, Jesus, and I would go into the city every other Saturday. It took us four days (make that eight weeks) to finish it. Thanks Addisonbr!
  3. Geocaching Maintenance: Logs from the CO.
  4. Since I retired, it's one of the two things that get me out of the house for my daily exercise. 679 day streak! (Tough with COVID-19.) The other is picking up garbage on the local Greenway. I've pulled out a few tons of garbage so far!
  5. Definitely more finds on my hiking caches! I'm down to one find a day, for my streak, and my exercise. I've stopped heading east into North East Jersey. Too COVID congested. Twelve caches on a woods road in the Newark Watershed? I'll hike it twelve times! For a find and an exercise a day. Though the bridge on the woods road was destroyed by ATVers. So I found a different hike in, but a half mile each way longer.
  6. We went for a 1T Earthcache. Then we found it was a mile from parking, albeit on an easy paced trail. 1T does have distance limitations from parking. My sister was having hip problems, and didn't want to walk two miles. I notified the CO, and she changed it to 1.5T.
  7. A group meeting to find this cache. Someone brought the ladder. Picture of me climbing the ladder. I did not get off onto the roof of the water tower. But I was handed the cache to sign the log. Not everyone climbed the ladder.
  8. I use GSAK. I can sort my files by cacher name. It gives the real name of the CO, not a made up name. I needed a name starting with 5. Had to travel a fair distance for it, but I got it!
  9. Used bleu cheese salad dressing today, instead of the usual. And I found a geocache! Got the Bleu Switch souvenir!
  10. I had always wanted to hide a 5/1 cache. Hard mystery, but it was accessible by wheelchair. The container could be reached by a cacher sitting in a wheelchair.
  11. New cacher - four finds. Three on mine. Such great logs! Those are railroad ties, not logs. Surprise! The very young conifer is still a tree!
  12. I did a series along an abandoned rail line with the most bizarre D/T ratings. From 1.5/5 to 5/2.5. Average terrain rating was 4. One took me a few tries, but the terrain was not 5! The other caches on the rail line were 2.5 terrain.
  13. Yes. I've received several e-mails from a brand new premium member about a 4/1.5 mystery cache that I had found. The cacher spent a few hours searching the original coords, not knowing what a mystery cache is. She started a FaceBook page for help. But isn't really getting much help solving the puzzle.
  14. I live in New Jersey. We have 566 municipalities. Every bit of land is in one of those municipalities. We have cities, towns, townships, boroughs and villages. Post offices do not affect municipal lines. Town of Dover PO includes all of Victory Gardens, and parts of Randolph Township and Rockaway Township. Names on the map do not change the municipality. Hibernia has its own PO, but is part of Rockaway Township.
  15. I use GSAK to tell me what counties caches are in. Because I run a large set of PQs, but have no interest in caching east of the Hudson River anymore.
  16. My goals were to make it to 10000 finds. I'm at 9107 finds. And continue my streak since I retired. I'm at 649 days. And I'm trying to average three finds a day, or more. State parks and forests are closed. County parks are closed. That makes it very tough! I'm down to 2.5 caches per day this year.
  17. I found a pay phone on a pole about a mile and a half up the trail. Cache was at the base. I have no idea how they got that in there!
  18. Doesn't seem to be from a list. No one else has logged a Discover.
  19. Ah. I was wondering why I got a 'discovered' from the Huskies, but it did not show on the trackable.
  20. I enjoyed Locationless Caches very much. I found 84 of them! Always several sitting in my brain. "There's a turtle! Let's help him across the road" Visqueney Dough Boys took a bit of work. But we found two! Waymarks are NOT the same thing. Locationless - Only one cacher could find a particle item. Waymarking - Everybody can find the same one. The incorrect 'Locationless' Signal the Frog is actually a Waymark, not a Locationless. I'm sorry that Locationless are gone, but I don't really want them back.
