Hey there! Names Jason Whitaker but I go by Whit (sometimes "wit" online because of my username).
I just learned about Geocaching about a day or so ago and I have found 6 caches and 1 TB. I have to say I love this, I love hiking and being out doors and I love hide and seek/scavenger hunts so this is perfect.
I have a question though. I found a relatively easy cache and it was in the middle of a busy part of town. When I found it there were some muggles(i love that term...lol) around and I'm not certain if they saw me retrieve or replace the cache because I checked a couple hours later and it hadn't been disturbed.
My question is, if I suspect someone witnessed me hunting and finding a cache should I educate them? Or just let it go? I mean, almost none of the caches I found had the little note that the guidelines for hiding/creating a cache said should be included.
My first "intentional" cache was McGehee Crossing but I remember about a year or two ago I was on a scavenger hunt for a small Item in a park and my friend and I stumbled across a little tin can that was held to the underside of a metal picnic table by a magnet and inside the can was a few sheets of paper with names and dates on it and now that I think of it I think I saw the word Geocache on it but I'm not sure. Any how, at the time I had no idea what it was and neither did my friend so we just put it back.
Should I assume that everyone will do this? Or should I just tell the people that I think saw what I was doing?
Anyway, short story long, I love this and I can't wait to find more caches in different places I may go... This will definitly be a life long hobby of mine, I can already tell..lol
