  1. Try some options re POIs. Change them appearing to 1.2miles and below! Stopped my shutoffs and crashes.
  2. I bought my iQue when they first reached the UK in September 2003. I have two iQues now [the spare bought for £40 on eBay!] For serious car navigation it is perfect - having towed caravans all over europe - loaded daily routes from PC to unit before leaving. It also carries so much detail in the Palm part for long holidays - medical records etc. At first I used exterior battery packs for time away from the 12 volt car charging or mains power in the caravan. I have used in that 6 years eMap, 60CSX, 76CSX, Colorado and Oregon but the iQue has remained my No 1. For general local use I have found the Oregon 300 my No.2. Most mapping is on both my units. One of the longest forum for Garmins is the iQue forum [elsewhere] and two of the most prolific posters have already given their views on this unit on this website!
  3. We have 'top of the range' Garmin products in Europe! https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=629...876#coverageTab http://www8.garmin.com/cgi-bin/mapgen/webm...mp;k=1&sc=1
  4. Too long or too complicated a route. I planned a route to Sorrento in Italy from Wales and had the same problem. I had to plan a days route at a time [on Mapsource on the PC] and load all the routes to the unit. Worked like a charm. 30 days travelling with caravan - 4500 miles - only lost my way once at Lake Garda1
  5. Garmin Discoverer crashes all the time. It cannot cope with the zoom levels and four types of map levels within the Discoverer 1:25, 1:50 etc. 3.13 is worse than 3.12 for me. The worse zoom level is 2miles - zooming in or out crashes!
  6. https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=145&pID=14904 Compatible with new Garmin GB Discoverer mapping. All firmware and mapping is the same for all oregons. https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=145&pID=14904

  8. Totally different and only works on some units and provided firmware is up to date. You get CityNavigator maps for navigation in the Package. There is a complete thread on Discoverer:- http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...205902&st=0
  9. My crashes are related to the topo maps only - Garmin Discoverer. CityNavigator and MetroGuide are fine. I have reloaded separate image files for all my mapping software and the problem is not there. Is it related to 'raster' maps in the Discoverer?? [i'm not sure if raster is the correct word]
  10. I think a downloaded Discoverer file is locked to one unit but the SD card can be used in other Oregons/Colorado. The Oregon needs to have updated Firmware to see the Discoverer maps correctly [as shown in previous postings]
  11. You cannot transfer Discoverer to another card if you buy the Card from Garmin - but the card will work in any compatible unit. When you download the Discoverer it is locked to one unit. So it seems a better choice to have the original card rather than the download!
  12. You cannot transfer Discoverer to another card. Each Discoverer is locked to that original SD card. You can create one file for a combined TOPO, Metroguide and CityNavigator maptiles. The recent Oregon Firmware update allows you to have individual image file for each type of mapping.
  13. After 66 years of my life I object to Garmin re-drawing my Country. #1 as ordinary maps and Garmin saw my area prior 6.14.0 #2 as Garmin Mapsource sees my area now!
  14. Every Discoverer SD Card contains CityNavigator for autorouting. I changed my settings to Enable TOPO and Discoverer ONLY. Below 800ft now the unit automatically shows:- ... I am larning as I tri to answair your poynts
  15. Sorry Bernie but I've found a mistake. I was using the Pembrokeshire Coast Path SD card. It has 1:50 and 1:25 and what I showed you was the 1:25 mapping. You are buying the 1:50 National Parks so you will not get 1:25. I moved out of Pembrokeshire Coast path area where I only get 1:50. The Discoverer disappears at below zoom level 800ft to be replaced by CityNavigator! ...
  16. The screenshots show the Discoverer and the TOPO GB mapping. .. .. At least the Discoverer shows your position at the cliff edge!!!!! I would not want to walk the Pembrokeshire Coast Path [155 miles] using the TOPO in Fog or at night! Discoverer at 20feet is totally useless. I have both Topo and Discoverer loaded as well as CityNavigator. Have the Garmin firmware updates corrected the problems for the Colorado [as mentioned prior to the numerous Oregon beta updates since the Discoverer launch]

  20. The latest MapSource is:- Changes made from version 6.15.4 to 6.15.6: * Fixed an issue with the file save dialog when the file extension field is hidden. * Fixed an issue where MapSource would crash if the route avoidance dialog would be displayed twice. * Fixed waypoint category filter issue. Now only waypoints of the selected category will be displayed. * Fixed waypoint prefixes. * Fixed an issue where MapSource would crash with certain address searches. * Fixed memory leaks in the waypoint dialog and map rendering. * Fixed an issue with saving gpx files when the file path contains Asian characters. * Fixed some hotkey issues. * Fixed an issue with searching for certain POIs. * Fixed an issue with how unlock codes were stored that caused incompatibilities with applications like Training Center. * Support Web Link Extensions in Brazilian Portuguese. * Changed waypoint image size to follow the user selected symbol size. I do not like any updates after 6.13.7 because the shape of the mapping. I do not think that TOPO GB is updated because of a Mapsource update it is still 4 or 5years old. If you have the same mapping software within the unit as is on the SD card it will 'freeze'[even one maptile] All TOPO on the SD card should not be a problem [1650MB with the data for route calculation] The options within the unit are very important as I had to remove all AVOIDS! Remember, the unit takes NT CityNavigator and TOPO has different compression. Play around with options and avoids - it took me several days to realise the apalling routes I was getting could be changed by the two headings - options and avoids.
  21. What version of Mapsource are you using? What version of Topo GB are you using? What are these updates to Topo? My Topo GB v2 is badly out of date and is a waste of time anyway. The Garmin Discoverer has replaced it. Are the routes on Mapsource OLD or are they NEW for the new unit? All my OLD routes have to be re contructed each time CityNavigator updates come out. Oregon has different ways of interperating your Mapsource routes depending on the OPTIONS you choose within the unit!
  22. I have the ability to use 22x22 icons and 24x24 icons. I do not know what your default size is? The UK speed camera database comes with 22x22 icons so I redesigned/recoloured the icons to suit my varifocals and increased the size to 24x24. Screenshots #1, #2 are with Garmin Discoverer mapping, #3 is with CityNavigator #4 is my new icon database ..
