  1. I am kinda new to trackabls but the embossed one is for verification and shouldn't be posted and the trackable one you could post so people could see your trackable. Without the embossed one finders would not be able to log movement of the coin.
  2. Make sure you follow the instruction to a t. I have found that you have 1 chance to install the driver for it to work properly and yes you are correct the loc info is what you will get . People say ( if the cable works out for you get a palm v for the gpx info

    geosense

you gps was off 20 but you still had geosense to realize were it was
  4. My thoughts With major moves you would need to reinizilize it or just put it outside for 30-40 minutes and it should be good.
  5. The priority is the last added to the q is the first to get it( from what I understand) as being a "new" pq you should get it quick. If you left it to run every Sat it would slowly move down the list of priority.
  6. After Re-reading, yes are you given 3 sets of coords, if so the use of the 2 numbers would be completely differnent, are the coords for waypoint 2 and 3 already provided? This would be very common as the numbers found in 1 2 and 3 would then build the coords for the final!
  7. i would doubt someone placed a cache ending with .000 the use of the 2 numbers you have supplied need to be applied I would assume ( which is bad) N 55° 32.037
  8. I would have a local geocacher conveniently post a new cache on private property that could be monitored and say it is loaded with goodies and an ammo box. Assuming that he takes the bait, I would then inform him of the pending charges for theft and or tresspassing if he contiues. If it is a giant problem, it might be worth the time and effort and help ease your mind! I am sure if you know his schedule somewhat you could arrange with the local reviewer to publish at a "best time' so you are not devoting your life to a keeping tabs on this cache.
  9. Here are 2 of the many threads that cover the topic http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...=235252&hl= http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...=235584&hl=
  10. Destruction in cemetaries, I do these caches and if this were the reason we would ban most people from visiting! I have never seen so much garbage in my life as in the bushes at cementaries, broken headstones tosses away by the " groundskeepers" plastic flowers, pots and fences. I visit alot of pioneer cementaries and feel the need to go take some cement and fix some of the old headstones that i see broken, But figure I am overstepping my boundaries. I have often thought I should contact someone to try to get permission then realize that if the caretakers of these places cannot be bothered to do the job as most of these have a board that "oversees them" why should I get involved! Sorry for the rant and I am sure this stirred the pot, but I agree caching is no differnet than a game of checkers and both should be allowed!
  11. If you really are going to go thru with it I hope she doesn't log a dnf....JK I would give the cache placemnt alot of thought as it would be nice to see this in play long after the novelty of the proposal was over. A contsant reminder evertime someone finds it of the day geocaching changed your life for the secoond time.
  12. "This is the original cache type consisting of (at a bare minimum) a container and a logbook" A container is meant to contain, a dam contains water and would be a container! A book is paper contained by a cover. So a log by itself is not a geocache but something to keep the log in place is a geocache, So yes you can think outside the box IMO A piece of paper held under a rock is contained yet has no inside! Agruementative not me
  13. I agree but it is still a game which others are playing so i would avoid just clearing these places out as they do serve a purpose. When I first started I seen the leave one take one on many so at the time I left them alone. Now I will always take 1 or 2 unless I know I am helping the traveller with its mission then I would definately take more.
  14. Yes they look ok juust add a "map" bag for wet days to keep the unit dry.I was doing some reading in this thread http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=202439 and want to thank you because I think I now know what I will get my wife for xmas she could use a GPS for the car and check it out for caching as well. WOW just got a refurbished 255w for $129 hope she will be happy I am.
  15. Not sure which buttons you are pushing but I just do a PQ to mail to my BB save the GPX file to the media card then import the file with cacheberry. You can just keep adding to a database or make a new one. I would reccommend keeping your main database at 500 caches for quick sorts in the field, I use 4 different databases in my area and just load the one I want for the day ie North West South East. When setting up my PQ I just picked a spot about 10 miles away from my home in these 4 direction and created my PQ's to extend back to my home
  16. Not sure what apps there are for the palm but I use cacheberry for the BB. I have heard of people using them but I do not have any experience myself I think I also seen reference to using an ipod but again never really looked indepth into these options.
  17. Cheapest solution I found for the wife was buy a BB ( 8330 built in gps) has a bad ESN on EBAY so no good as a phone but the GPS and paperess feature worked fine. I use a 8330 personaly and it works great her gps sometimes doesn't work the best so we have an old etrex that she breaks out if it is acting up.
  18. http://www.serialgear.com/USB-Serial-adapt...s-mac-linux.cfm has the driver but be warned I have found you have 1 shot to install it so read how to do it! I have 2 computers 1 which it worked on and one that I started with that I didn't read the instructions. I think I need to go into the registery and remove items for it to reinstal properly now. I have a cheap genertic cable. Etrex Vista. Its only a GPS since back then nobody added an r for reciever
  19. what operating system are you running? Have you change the operating systyem? in device manager what ports are now showing?
  20. 1. How did you originally hear about geocaching? I blame my sister for telling me about this addiction . 2. Why did you want to get involved? To do something with family that didn't involve a screen and after finding my first which was a custom container by a local cacher team DR MOO, I just had to get others invoved. I do have to say the unique containers did help fuel the passion to find more.
  21. Is this the one you want ? http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/syst...x3/en/index.htm
  22. If you do not use " enough" pressure you can dull the drill bit as well. place it on a piece of wood to reduce buring and if it took you that long to drill a hole in a penny ( not that you would deface currency) put the drill in forward. sorry couldn't resist
  23. I will try to help here You might have done some of these steps. 1 download my finds PQ GPX file 2 installed cache stats 3 open cache stats and go to tab 2 statistics 4 open my finds gpx file (bottom right ) 5 export to HTML ( bottom right) 6 copy to clipboard and u can open your profile from pop up 7 save changes add any text above or below for [profile. Think that should do it
  24. Gratz, and pictures are always nice to see. Welcome to the addiction.
