  1. WARedBear has contacted one of the TB owner's. They are still in his possesion but locked away in storage. Until he finds them the TB's can't be passed on. So help is no longer needed at this time. Thank you to all.
  2. Is there any way someone could pick up some travel bugs from WARedBear. He has been holding several travel bugs since July 5th, 2006. These travel bugs were supposed to be in a race. E-mails have gone unanswered again. PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE!Is there any way somebody could get these TB's from WARedBear and place them in a cache.

  5. Thanks for the response. Good luck on the night cache.
  6. Several Oklahoma cachers have been trying to contact WARedBear and have gotten no response. If anyone in the Washington area has a different way of contacting this cacher, several of us would appreciate it.
  7. We have a cacher in Oklahoma City that transforms some of his CITO into caches. Trash to Kache #1 Trash to Kache #2 Trash to Kache #3 The CITO find for me a few days ago was not strange but the circumstances behind it were. Kiddle Whee - Micro Saturday, August 05, 2006 spearfox posted a note for Kiddle Whee - Micro (Traditional Cache) The Matrix has you Saturday, August 05, 2006 spearfox posted a note for Kiddle Whee - Micro (Traditional Cache) Follow the white rabbit Saturday, August 05, 2006 Darkmoon found Kiddle Whee - Micro (Traditional Cache) Okay, for all of you out there who think I make up these logs, let me tell you, it is not true. I may embellish a little but the adventures are real. Case in point on this cache ( and it of course is a Okie Rose Rocks cache so please do not hold me responsible)! Spearfox had already done this one as he was FTF a while back so he was just hanging out with me as I go to find this one. No problem as there is nobody around or in the park, a very well manicured park I might add, so we were talking as the GPS led me to the location. Get to the place and as I make my way to the cache and was signing it, I hear Spearfox say, look a phone. Thinking it was another conspiracy theory, I finish signing the sheet and putting it back when I see him with a cell phone in his hand. He wasn't joking. He looks at and says should we check the one new message. At that time the phone rings. We look at each other and he says shaking his head that it wasn't him and should he answer it. Of course I said so he does. It appears to be the owner and he is looking for his phone. As Spearfox is telling him where we found it and what we are doing we work it out to meet him somewhere to give it back. I am getting that all too familiar feeling that something weird is happening. I know I didn't take the blue pill and my name isn't nemo. So we meet this guy at a nearby gas station and he is grateful for us finding the phone and he doesn't know how it got there. But the weird thing was the white rabbit sticker on his back window of his pick up truck and the his licensce tag said Matrix on it. Is that unbelievable or what! Thanks for the cache and the hunt and the truely bizarre adventure today! Darkmoon This one we didn't CITO, just left it where it was...far off the trail. ¤!No Swimming!¤ Sunday, July 23, 2006 Darkmoon found ¤!No Swimming!¤ (Traditional Cache) As me and Spearfox continued on our stroll of leisure thru the park looking for the bootylicious swag of caching delights, stopping momentarily to explain why we were taking pictures of the golf course with our high tech Garmin and Magellian cameras, chasing renegade and forgotten discs, humming pirate songs off the top of our heads, and other crazy antics, we came across the cache. There had been some moisture that got in the container but the logbook was dry and just some dry mud in the container. Does look like some animal has been trying to chew thru the lid but it is still intact. It was after signing the logbook and placing the cache where and how I found it was when it took a turn to the bizarre. As I slid the cache in it's shelter, I hear Spearfox tell me to look up and straight across. Knowing Spearfox, I figured he saw a deer or maybe a couple of muggles enjoying each other. As I peered into the woods listening and looking for the couple, it hit my eyes. Someone had taken the time to cable tie a wireless phone of the 900mhtz range and in olive drab color by a tree branch to hang down. The fun part was trying to figure if they had used it as a listening device or as a reciever to scare someone. Spearfox was coming up with all sorts of government coverups and such and was even trying to explain the purpose of the Diet Coke can we found underneath it but when the black unmarked helicopters started circling the area, we moved on. I can't go thru another set of government questions and interrigations, I lost a whole week of time last time and was dumped on the side of the road in my underwear by a run down cafe in the middle of nowhere Arizona! It won't happen again. No sir we bob will it happen again. Thanks for the cache and the hunt! Darkmoon
  8. CITO event? Cache In Trollops Out Or should it be CIPO? Cache In Pickles Out
  9. Absolutely cool! Wonder if airport security would have a problem. Never know when you might have a ninja terrorist on the plane.

  11. The wife and I took our GPS on a cruise to Cozumel with no problems.
  12. Cash register tape. Cut a strip 4 to 8 inches long from the roll (expermintation with your cache container will show you the optimum length.) Roll tight. like rolling up a wall poster, just much smaller. Slip rolled log into a soda straw that is cut a little shorter than the width of the "log book" If there is excess log for the container, just snip to length with scissors. My experience is that some cachers cant figure out how to get the log back in the straw so they CITO the straw, roll the log and put it back in. Using the straw will let it fall out of most containers. Try rolling some at home and let them sit for a day. After taking them out of the straw the paper will expand but maintain the rolled shape. It makes it easier to roll tight again I actually made several and stuffed them in my cache bag. They don't take up much room. I can drop them in a cache that has log book "problems" so other cachers will have something to sign. I was shown a neat "wrist flip" that extracted a micro log. I'll have to remember that next time I run across one and try it myself.
  13. Mommyfried and I have had some of the best caching fun in the rain
  14. You should have given us a call, that's the same unit Mommyfried uses. Take out the card and reseat it, might have to do that a couple of times. Same thing happened a few weeks ago and it nearly drove me nuts cause I thought the "card utilities" was buried in some sub-menu. The "card utilities" menu will not show up unless the unit senses a memory card. Double check the mem card in a computers card reader. Again, you might reseat it in the computer also cause I had the same thing happen on the computer. If you need more help give us a call, we can double check things with our systems.
  15. Hey rebel&angel you might consider making the long drive to OKC for our monthly meeting. You can meet plenty of local cachers and get any help that you might need. There is usually a few groups that go caching after the meeting. Put it on your watchlist Oklahoma Geocachers Morning Meeting GC1B89 Can't remember how to make this a clickable link.
  16. I have an old HP Jornada Pocket PC that I take with me sometimes. I had GSAK generate HTML pages for all the pocket queries. At one time I was carrying the whole state of Oklahoma and whatever overlapped into other states, I believe it was approx. 3000 caches. I set GSAK to generate with name, placed by, waypoint code, found date, found by me date, with travel bugs, unfound caches, cache density and distance and bearing from certain cities. On the individual cache pages it would show the 40 nearest caches by distance and bearing. Clicking on one of the 40 nearest caches would take me to that cache page and show another 40 caches listed at the bottom. If you have GSAK you can try generating HTML right on your computer to play with it and see if it is sometning you want on your PPC. GPX Sonar would not load for me, probably the PPC OS is too old.
  17. I got it and I think it works very well. There is a setup on the program to configure a GPSr to work with the map. I haven't tried any of our handheld units to see how well it works, just use the GPSr that came with it. We have used it on several geocaching road trips, trip planning, address searches and general research. I even loaned it too a friend for his trip from Oklahoma to Arkansas, Tennessee and Pennsylvania. He didn't have the GPSr but said it worked great. If you have any specific questions just post it here, plenty of people here can answer.
  18. I use my wife's Meridian color frequently. As stated the screen can be hard hard to see in direct sun. We adapted to that quickly. I have also used it for nightcaching where I have found that the backlight is too bright even at half illumination. Those are about the only drawbacks. A big plus is the data connection and the memory card. I got my wife a 1 Gig memory card which can hold a TON of caches and tracks.
  19. OKDoke, who responded earlier in this thread, has set up some great road rally type events that I have attended. One was an a Amazing Race style race. There were puzzles to solve, tasks to complete and of course caches to hunt. A set of coordinates was actually guarded by attack ducks. One cache container was locked with a combintion lock. We were able to slip it off instead of figuring out the combination. Inside was key locked box with about 100 keys to try so you could get the next set of instructions. Another set of coordinates was frozen in a cup of ice, the task was to get them out without smashing the ice. Many people found creative ways to melt the ice while being watched by game officials. Another of his that I attended was a road rally. There were no actual caches to find but puzzling/cryptic directions to guide you. Along the way there were questions to answer. There are a couple of ideas to work with
  20. Thanks WARedBear, Darkmoon will appreciate hearing that. Many of us hear have a fondness for his caches. I like puzzle caches also and try to solve any in my immediate area. The thing that really bothers me is a puzzle cache that has been setup that has a flaw in the solution. A cacher cannot get the correct answer without duplicating the error. I know of a recent one near the OU campus in Norman, Oklahoma that used a lot of calculus. Our best puzzle solvers were coming up with incorrect answers even after getting the help of engineers and other high level math heads. It was solved and the correct coordinates were posted on the cache page by one of the finders/solvers. Just a word of caution to anyone, make sure the puzzle is correct .
  21. I use both. We have a Meridian color, SporTrak and SporTrak Pro. The latter two are grey scale. I have seen a thread in the forums a long time ago that someone could not tell if what was represented on the map was a road or river with the grey scale, I have never ran across this problem. The one downside to using the color unit is that I nightcache many times and the screen is too bright even at half illumination. In other words, it effects my night vision. The grey scales did not seem as bright. The bottom line is, for me, it's nice but I don't need color. I got my wife the color unit so I could get the Pro.
  22. My only concern is that non-cachers will get the wrong idea. So many of them think we dig up caches when we "treasure hunt"
  23. Thanks for the help Clyde. I appreciate your efforts. I hate the fact I can't figure something simple out, especially when it's even spelled out in the help files. Hindsight is 20/20. Again, Thank You Very Much.
