A good alternative is to post a virtual cache. The criteria for such a cache includes that it be an unusual or astounding place, such that others would also want to visit. (It's that one of the reasons for vacation, anyway?). You just need to find some sort of focal point you can use to verify that cachers have been there. For examples of these, see "T.M.L." in Sacramento, CA, "A.M.P." on the north coast of CA, or "Geom" at Pt. Reyes CA. I'm sure there are others as well. Have fun!
