  1. On March 10-11th, Texas is hosting their annual challenge for a Golden Ammo Can (GC33CNK). Oklahoma is forming a team for anyone in the state or surrounding areas that would like to join us. This will be a great opportunity to work as a team for four hours and bond with our Oklahoma cachers. We have an awesome team started called the Oklahoma Buffalos. The minimum requirement for a team is ten people. We welcome new and unexperienced cachers as well as the hardcore. Caches will be placed 1/1 to 5/5. If you are interesting in joining us, please join the Facebook page "Taking the Golden Ammo Can". You may also join our Central Oklahoma Geocachers page on Facebook to keep up to date on the local cachers. I know that some people don't Facebook (yea, can you believe it?), I will happily keep you updated by email if you contact me to let me know you are going.
  2. As an owner of 15 of the caches that are on the OLR series, I havent gotten any NM logs. It has been a popular series as I get the logs straight to my phone. This series is not done by just one person or team. Many people have placed and have an interest in this and we maintain for each other as we are a strong group with lots of communication. I carry containers and logs to replace for whatever cache not just the OLR. Once I had to replace a cache because we accidentally dropped it in a river while trying to return it (CO notified). Its great fun reading who is travelling through the state for the series and we have met some great people from other states that we may have never met and some have become great friends. I have done quite a bit of the series but not near all of it. The containers are varied from pill bottles, magnetics, lock n locks and ammo cans. Mine are pretty far out on the west end but I still read every log even when its TFTC or copy and pasted over and over. I would be happy to go replace one as I still need to pick up some smilies and I want to add more to the west end to finish it across the state. What cacher doesnt like to get in the car and travel?
  3. I need a good Geocaching movie to show at an event, perhaps even an instructional video. Netflix has two: G.P.S. the movie, and Splinterheads. Are there anymore out there that might be more family friendly? What would you recommend?
  4. You can also find Central Oklahoma Geocachers and Tulsa Area Geocachers on Facebook. Also there is an Oklahoma Geocachers page.
  5. I use Trimble Navigator app and absolutely love it on my blackberry curve. Some phone carriers dont support the application, so you might have to check that. There is a monthly service fee or a one time fee. Both are extremely well priced. I can pull up all caches no matter what area I am in without having to preload them. It is of course limited in areas with no cell phone service, but it is my main GPSr. My other handheld GPSr is used only for placing caches or storing lists or when I know I am going to a spot with no service coverage as well as for events.
  6. I recently started collecting them by buying them thru presales on this forum. I am up to 8 total now. Got started by winning one at an event. I just cant bear to let them out of my sight and send them out. Keeping them and looking at them is good enough for me, I dont even activate them. Occasionally I have ordered an extra one or two and gifted it to friends and relatives. Just ordered an extra one to donate to an event in April. Not sure why they fascinate me, the artwork is just so appealing and the weight of the coin. My caching relatives think I am nuts but I got one for Christmas as well as a notebook to start putting them in from my cachersister. Pretty sure that makes me a closet collector!
  7. After being a geocacher for a month, most of my family team members have decided they would rather sit at home in the air conditioning than go hunting with me. I like hunting night and day and hard and easy. Hardest i did was a 5 mile trek that resulted in me covered with at least 100 chigger bites that put me out for a few days. I learned my lesson there. Problem is, its just not as fun alone especially since I am a woman. I would like to find another female that perhaps is in the same situation that is located in Oklahoma City. It wouldnt be a problem alternating vehicles and/or navigating, I just want to get some more smilies. I can do nite or day caching. Email me at Rubygriff28@yahoo.com if you are interested.
