  1. "The old one is under lots of water. Placed a temp for you at N 37 48.428 W 096 17.332" he claimed a find. The cache was not underwater and was easily found later that day. Later the same day he he could not find another cache so he put another out, signed it and claimed a find. I came to find out that person has a history of placing a cache when he can't find one. He had never logged a DNF and has almost 1000 "finds".

  4. POLI became a reviewer and all is right in the world. THE END!!!
  5. Who is winning that pool? Who has sent the most newbies crying to the forums?
  6. I want a West Virginia coin as well.
  7. The real question is, "Why Are Reverowers So Weard?" That question has baffled me for a very long time.

  9. We were on a cruise ship in June in Sitka and didn't have enough time to do Indian River Falls (about 8 miles roundtrip as I recall) and you can walk to the trailhead from town, but we did about half that hike and it was a beauty with an incredible number of bald eagles, so would strongly suggest you take a look at that one. In fact, the FTF is still up for grabs: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...93-a7168ac356f1 That sounds like a good one. I'm going fishing there and should have time to get there. Thanks for the recommendation.
  10. Sure can. If you want a head start before I get home, pull up Topozone and pan west and south until you see where the Middle Fork of the Chulitna River crosses the Parks Highway. That's where we've been told the horse trail begins, but any guide you hire from the area ("area" being general...there's a horse outfitter south near the Princess McKinley View Hotel and there are probably horses available on the south side of Denali and perhaps even in Cantwell) should know for certain. There is good parking there, too. Shovelman and I never contemplated a summer approach, so that's way I'm so uncertain. However, the cache page's statement about the cache being 15 miles in jives with that approach. You might wish to plan an overnight trip with a stay at the lakes in Caribou Pass. A winter approach on skis beginning at Summit Lake is several miles shorter, but not advisable in the summer due to all the tussocks and marshlands that would takes hours to cross. Good luck on this one...it'd be a real coup to snag the FTF from under all our noses up here! Re: Maine caching. I've been limited to three so far due to the hours of the seminar I'm attending. However, I had a blast at Frenchman's Hole today. Won't get photos up until I get home...forgot my camera USB cable. I get out of class at noon on Friday, leaving me the rest of the day to cache. Then, it's a sprint to Boston on Saturday morning to catch a flight home back to my family. Thanks for the information. I'm trying to contact guides now. I'm not sure I will be able to get it done but I am looking into it. If you have time, Boston has some great caches too. On the way to Boston you will drive by Cape Ann. There are some wonderful cache there as well.
  11. SASO this is a great coin. It looks even better in person then it does in the picture. You did a wonderful job designing it.
  12. You are probably right and I am probably wrong. If anyone has a picture of the original benchmark, that would be cool to see. --Marky I talked to RattlingCrew and he has a picture of the original. He is on a short trip but will post it when he gets back. The original is in a museum near the Meades Ranch.
  13. This is a GREAT coin. It looks better then any other benchmark I have see. I like the 2 inch size and the weight. I also appreciate you put a little history of the benchmark on the back with the state seal and did not try add "art". This coin went to the top of my favorites!
  14. I believe the benchmark coin is a copy of the original not the reset. The original did not have the information about the "fine or imprisonment". The picture in your post is the reset benchmark. I was told that while visiting the benchmark last year. If the information I was given is wrong someone please correct me.
  15. Shovelman and I have researched it, but the stars haven't aligned for us. Easiest access would be with a snowmobile in the winter. Second easiest would probably be on skis starting from Summit Lake in April when "crust skiing" conditions prevail. Third easiest is on horseback or foot, but it would be mosquito hell until the frost kills them toward the end of August. I have mapped routes at home, but I'm in Maine for the week. It's in a beautiful, but very remote location. I don't think I would like mosquito hell much but I am researching hiring a horse and a guide to go after it. (I'm sure no one would rent a horse without a guide up there.) Could you possibly email your routes when you get home or at least your recommended area to start? Anything would be appreciated. Are you doing any caching in Maine? I have enjoyed it every time I have been there.
  16. Thanks you for the help. I see a cache "Caribou Pass Trail - By Cracky" has not been found. Do you know anything about it?
  17. You do have some control over that. One way you can do it is place the caches you don't want to find on your ignore list and then check the box that reads "Are not on my ignore list". Another way is to use the "Attributes". Click what you want or don't want before you run your PQ.
  18. If you are a premium member to GC.com you can run a "Cache alone a Route" PQ and sent that to GSAK. If you are not a member you can become one for only $3 a month. It is worth it for that benefit alone.
  19. Thanks for all the information. I'm looking forward to getting there. I'm going to Sitka to fish but I know I'll have a lot of time to cache around there. I can't wait!
  20. Franz, The coins you sent me in return for the coin I sent have arrived. Thank you very much!
  21. I'll buy one as soon as they are available.
  22. I'm going to Alaska in early August. I will be flying into Anchorage and taking the train to Denali. I will be there for about a week. I will then fly to Sitka for another week. Any cache recommendations would be welcome. I like hiking and history. Tough or long hikes are not a problem.
  23. Who do I have to pay to be part of the click?
