  1. In just a few seconds of looking at this one, I got a reasonably good Longitude, but for the life of me, I cannot get anything that looks anywhere close to a Latitude. The numbers in the Hint, mean nothing to me - I have tried all my math tricks on them to no avail.
  2. Once while looking for a cache, It was obvious that the cache was: 1) Placed by a young person. 2) Was in a very residential area. 3) The house and yard was fenced. 4) The hint was something like: Base of the Oak Tree, NE side under the gerraniums, the dog will not bite. Of course, I asked to come on the property. Or at least to announce that I was there and the reason. Chated with Grandma, shared grandkid stories. She knew exactly where the cache was located, the kid involved, and relished the idea that someone went out of their way to find it. Bottom Line: I will ALWAYS ask to go onto obvious proivate property.
  3. I use True North in Urban Settings as most streets run True North/South I use Magnetic when in woods and when kayaking - Then the GPS'r and Compass agree.
  4. Sounds interesting I will be there, if only for the show.
  5. Darn - I though that I was doing great with 10 FTF out of exactly 200 finds. So it is 5% for me. But without the 5 FTF on Easter Sunday, I would be down at 2.5 %
  6. Like I said earlier. Just give me the coords, I will do the rest.
  7. I have four challenge puzzles in the works at this time. All have been delayed by the tax season. For those interested. One discussion thread is located at: Equlateral NE/SW There have been proposed solutions sent to me over the past few days. One of about a dozen is absolutely correct. FYI: I will disclose the solution on that thread, in a few days.
  8. Repared the hyperlink - Correct now - it is: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/
  9. I have one that I made. But, I have seen one online. FlagMan: TryHide And Seek A Cache In the lower right hand corner.
  10. Not exactly. You supply the cache, hide location. Then give me the final cache coords. I will do the math, and give back to you a suggested write-up Email me privately and I will send an HTML file of what I propose.
  11. I have a cache idea - For an interesting puzzle cache. I need someone to place a cache, and maintain it, somewhere in the South East. What I propose is a puzzle cache called 'Equilateral - SoutjEast' paired with 'Equilateral - SouthWest' What I will do, is give the cacher a pair of coordinates to two locations. Using those coords, they then construct an equilateral Triangle. Then, go find the cache. The kicker is that from any given pair of points, one line can be produced. From that line, two equliteral Triangles can be produced. What I propose is to have two caches at the two locations. One here in Southern California, the other in the SouthEast (Florida?). If you email me privately, I can give you an HTML file of the proposed writeup. Any takers in USA South East , or beyond?
  12. I am not proposing a difficult hide. Just that the math be the problem. Of course, the uncertainty of 'Is my coords correct?' is part of the fun. In my case, I have a simple quart PB jar in a not too conspicious location. When the correct coords are known, the find is a simple D1/T1. If you want an example write-up, just email me privately and I will discuss the details.
  13. I have a cache idea - For an interesting puzzle cache. I need someone to place a cache, and maintain it, somewhere in the North West. What I propose is a puzzle cache called 'Equlateral - North' paired with 'Equlateral - South' What I will do, is give the cacher a pair of coordinates to two locations. Using those coords, they then construct an equilateral Triangle. Then, go find the cache. The kicker is that from any given pair of points, one line can be produced. From that line, two equliteral Triangles can be produced. What I propose is to have two caches at the two locations. One here in Southern California, the other in the NorthWest. For example: I took one of the geocaches in Washington state and paired it with one of mine here in San Diego, CA. The two points that provide the base line were: N 39 25.817 W 125 24.316 N 41 41.813 W 113 15.463 Any takers in Washington State, or beyond?
  14. Give me the coords, I can make a really easy (For PHd types) puzzle - I was thinking of something along the line of Quadratic ( That they can do in the field ) Or if you want, something that will require a bit of 'at home' pre-preparation. -- SlideRule
  15. I'll see that and raise you 50k. I'm guessing Marky's ignoring it because it's too difficult. It should take him longer to do the math than a slow drive from Pacific Beach. However, he'll still beat the other mega-cachers, hands down. Someone just won 50K I came, I saw, I signed the log.... There will be a 'Black Box' San Diego, version. When I complete the puzzle, I will post it here for all that want a FTS. -- SlideRule ( The fun is in the find )
  16. When you go by a know cache site. And you look to see if anyone is searching.
  17. I use that feature on my Garmin 76 - Works well...
  18. I like the 'humour' in that. BTW: I prefer 'humour'... 'Humor' is too common.. -- SLideRule ( The fun is in the find )
  19. Any one know the Phone number of 'The DAK girls' ?? Have them call me about the 'Wizard's Chess' Series. Thanks -- SLide Rule
  20. I just did a simple calculation. Right now the caches are identified by 6 numbers/letters, two of which are GC followed by xxxx. I calculate a grand total of just a bit more than 1.6 million geocaches total. How many are there now, and how fast is this growing. -- SLideRule
  21. What I did was about 1000 miles round trip but the ONLY reason for the trip was the 372 miles to get to that one cache.
  22. Thanks for the kind words. For those that care, there is going to be a 'Black Box' in San Diego soon. Although, it will be more challenging than this one. If you want to practice your Physics Calculations Try - ' Black Box ' before you attempt 'Black Box - SD' . Challenge: Anyone in CV up to a fantastic FTF in San Diego? -or- Is it true that the FTS will go to a Southern Californian and not a flatlander? I will post the problem in the San Diego Forum within a few minutes after I place the cache. Even prior to the acceptance by WCA. -- SlideRule ( The fun is in the find )
