  3. quote:Originally posted by RDVH: I believe that there is no thing as too close. A few people I know that would like to cache would rather hit as many as they could in one park no matter how close. We seem to be forgetting it's the thrill of the find. Seems this person wants to claim the park as his only and thats very unsportsman like. The Parks belong to the people not just one person. And just how much thrill is there in walking 60ft from cache A to cache B? Or is the thrill come from tripping over cache B while seeking cache A? I don't see anyone that wants to "claim the park as his only", I see people who are upset that the thrill of the find has been reduced to "hey! there's a cache under BOTH of these fallen trees here!" And yes, if you would like to check, I have placed a cache myself 500ft from another cache. I am also pretty sure it will take anyone (other then BassoonPilot!) 30 minutes or more to get from one cache to the other. Illegitimus non carborundum!

There is a place in your profile settings for setting your forum display name to something different then your geocaching login name. Don't know if it actually works, but did you try it? I'm assuming (bad to do, I know) you would like to continue to use the name we know you as here? Illegitimus non carborundum!

  7. I can get used to most of it, but i down right HATE the fact that I'm forced to read a thread oldest to newest. I'm one of those that goes down the forum clicking open interesting threads each in a new window. Now I have to also click to the last page to get to the new msgs. Wish we could get it to sort newest to oldest as an option. Illegitimus non carborundum!
  8. Just noticed that along with all the cool NEW stuff here, the cache pages seem to have reverted back to the no little map/tiger map look. What happened there? Illegitimus non carborundum!
  9. quote:Originally posted by geospotter: Everything looks fine in IE, but black on black in Netscape. I'm not getting that on 4.79 under windoze, fonts are a little weird, but I can get used to that. Problem I'm having is the popups dont work. Kinda hard to fig out what some do without trying them, and they arent explained in the faq. Guess I gotta load up IE and see what they are. Oh, and now EVERYONES avatar dissapeared. WEIRDNESS! Illegitimus non carborundum!
  10. OK, one more whine (make it a margarita and I'll stop): The feature to set the forums to display local time is great, but it's not working quite well. If I close my browser, when I return the forums are set back to PST. If I look in my settings, it SAYS its set to EST. If I do nothing but just save the existing settings again, everything is fine. Sorta. I set the date to display in am/pm format. The lists of threads do display like that, but the times in the actual thread are still in 24hr format. Just minor bugs to work out Illegitimus non carborundum!
  11. quote:Originally posted by mrgigabyte: How come when you hit the "Post Reply" button, the form that is presented includes a field called "Subject"? I would think that this should only appear if you are starting a new thread, not replying to an existing thread. Because you can have a subject on your post, within a thread, like above. 14. Hey, I'm working at it here! Illegitimus non carborundum!
  15. OK, found where you are SUPPOSED to be able to set the time format... it's part of the date format setting. Didnt think to look there, hehehe. Problem is, even after setting it to AM/PM, the actual threads still show times in 24h format for me. Other weird thing, my avatar went byebye. Just shows a broken link. I didnt change anything there, and everyone else's avatar displays fine. Maybe I'm just having a weird day.
  16. quote:Originally posted by Jeremy Irish: In most cases, if you hover your mouse arrow over the icons, a contextual popup message will tell you what it does. Popup msg isnt displaying properly using netscrape 4.72 I get a small popup, with the 1st few letters at the far right of it, and the rest of the text (I assume) scrolled out past the popup window.
  17. More questions: Any way to change the sort order? I don't see that anywhere yet. Would rather see newest posts 1st, especially on long threads. Any way to get the time in 12hr format instead of 24hr? Seems to be in 12hr when I post, then 24hr when I read a thread. I'm sure most of this is just minor bugs, and a matter of getting used to something new. (Do I have more posts then ClayJar yet? )

Then there's that time travel thing, as the most recent posts are from 2027 right now. Hope I remember to repy to them in 25 yrs! DOH! MY BAD!!!!! Didnt notice my post scrolled off the bottom onto the next page! In other news, the option to set the time to your local time zone is cool, but weird. I got used to mentally coverting everything to PST
