  1. My phone has died. Now I need to replace it. I am asking recommendations for a quality outdoor phone. One with the best GPS, one that will withstand the elements and occasional tumble, one that isn't the size of a tablet, long battery life for finding multiple caches on long treks/weekends etc, one that has good signal so I can call for help when I get in trouble, Oh and one that doesn't cost more that £200, that might sound tight, but hell I remember when the flashiest top of the range phones cost this much, I'm not flush with cash. I can't really afford to replace my phone but as I spend time on my own, miles from anywhere, it's necessary. I was looking at the Blackview BV7000pro, does anyone have any experience. Or can people recommend something else. My last phone was a Samsung S5 mini, but the motherboard is not repairable due to the way it's made. I loved that, phone, it was the only phone that one could hold in one hand reasonably. Please help!
  2. Thank you so much, these links are exactly what I wanted
  3. Is there anyway to copy the co-ordinates on a cache when on an android phone, other than checking them, writing them down, and then inputting them manually into other mapping apps? Or maybe access the other maps through the app? I have Geocache app, but I also have Anquet; a subscription based mapping app with full access to all the os maps 1:25k and 1:50k. When using the Geocaching app it is often, around me anyway, just a point in the middle of nowhere, so I have to minimise the app, bring up the other, and work out routes to the map and location for the cache (my GPS isn't great around us so I prefer to manually pinpoint the location on the OS map and get to the co-ordinates myself). If I want to be more specific and instead of working out likely spots based on the rights of way etc in the area. I have to write down the co-ordinates (usually scrawled on my arm) from the Geocaching app, and then input them to my other app manually. Is there a quick button to highlight and copy the co-ordinates so I can paste them into the other app, or a way to load the additional maps to the geocaching app? My phone is painfully slow so it can take a lot of time and use a lot of battery flipping between the two constantly.
  4. Who do I ask permission from to place a cache on a public road in the UK. The place I have in mind is a beautiful natural spring on a quiet country road, a little way from several footpaths. The road itself is a quiet country lane, with suitable parking spots at various places along it, the visibility is good and the road is wide.
  5. Newbie here. We have a couple of Public Access Land areas near up where I wanted to set a couple of caches: - The first is Haugh Woods, a large woodland, I think under the forestry commission. - The second is Broadmoor Common, a small area of common land, I am unsure who owns it. - The third is Hampton Meadows, a nature reserve with foot and bridlepaths across, I think it's under hereford wildlife trust My questions for both are as follows: - If they are public access, do I need to still seek permission to place a cache? (I only ask as I have tried multiple times to contact various people but without any response) - And if so, who do I contact. I have already attempted to contact the forestry commission for the first, and the local parish council for the second, and hereford wildlife trust for the third. None have received any replies. Does anyone have any tips of helpful advice for this. I'm walking in the areas most days and I would love to place some caches.
