  1. Just a word of warning to all who use the lanyard - it is not that strong. The bar snapped off my Venture after only a month or so of buying it. It lucky that I felt the tension in the lanyard go, or else I might have lost my unit....
  2. I'm not really an expert on this, but some units have auto-averaging, which make the units think that they are still moving at a certain velocity, even though you might be standing still. I have seen this happen on my unit, generally when you are down to the last 100ft or so, and are moving around slowly trying to locate the cache. I think this where the 'drunken bee dance' phrase came from. I'm sure other members will be able to post a more technically accurate description of this phenomenon. Ian
  3. I bought my GPS unit at the start of last summer, and one day at work I was surfing around on the internet, and found a link to geocaching.com on somebody's website (might have been Robin Lovelock's actually!). Anyway, went to the site and was incredibly suprised to find 4 sites within 20 miles of my house. Took a half day, went out and found my first one. And now, I live on an island which doesn't have any caches on it... It will have soon, as I'm planning a multi-cache for the island. I'm just hoping someone will come over and search for it......

  5. Maplin Electronics are selling 12V to 230V inverters for £40 for the 150W model, and £50 for the 300W model. I have just invested in one as I am using my laptop more and more in the car, and it means I can charge it on the go. I can also take a (small) kettle with me for when its cold outside (every day!). 7. Hello Does anyone know what has happened to the Trailgauge mapgrabber application? It was mentioned here about 3/4 weeks ago, and I used it then, but I don't have any luck with it at the moment, and all references have been removed from the trailgauge.com website. Cheers Ian
