  1. Hey Mike&Lily, I would send an email notifying cached of their error. If it was within a few days, then obviously, the find was logged twice by accident. If its years later, than I prob would send a friendly note asking if they went twice. We found a cache a couple of years ago, forgot to log the cache. We wrote the cache owner asking if we could log it, but we got no response. We will go back, resign the log, them finally log the cache. I am hoping the error is o. Our part, and for some reason forgot to log it and not that the log got deleted.
  2. Two of my favourites is, GC2VYNR Pandora's Box for its originality, you need to contact the cache owner to be able to "find" it and GC1P8HC Union Bay Mine for its adventure. I appreciate all caches, but I really enjoy the lock n locks or ammo cans, and caches that bring us for a lovely walk or to a spot we wouldn't have found ordinarily. I am not a fan of micros, or a fan of guardians. I just love digging through the caches to see what treasures are hidden inside.
  3. Congrats on your milestone, Ray and I do pretty much the same as you. We set out to look for several cache's and get sidetracked by a beautiful/interesting area that may or may not be a destination for a cache. Thanks for your post, your milestone, and your encouragement.
  4. Ray and I got ours from magicman and angelcheeks. Whoever finds the cache will ask for the other to bring a bottle of water over. ie: "Ray, I'm so thirsty, can you please bring me a bottle of water?" Which is usually followed up by..." What! You didn't...Where!?" Now if he were writing this, the names would be reversed I'm sure! ha ha ha
  5. Congratulations!! We've been married for 27 years and counting!! We wish you the same!!
  6. We will be your friend!! Add 2 to your list!!!
  7. We have been geocacher's for one month and 6 days today. Sometimes we feel like newbies, other days, like yesterday, we feel experienced. Yesterday we were experienced, we were able to find cache's right off the bat. Today, we were definitely newbies, we only found one cache, and couldn't even find the road to another cache we were looking for. I think it's all about you and how you feel, and never mind about what others think or say. I do believe milestones are something to get excited about, like your 50th, 100th, 200th, find etc. But, whatever floats your boat works! Just remember, keep having fun, keep being in awe of the new experiences and beauty you find around you, and muggles don't have a clue about what they are missing!!!
  8. That's one of the beauties we have found. Geocaching takes us to places we would never have known about otherwise.
  9. I have a garmin etrex legend, and when I want to mark found, starting from scratch. Menu - Menu - Find - geocache - enter (to choose the cache you want to find) - exit (to go from map screen to compass screen) - on the compass screen down at the bottom there are three buttons, from L to R - found - notes - stop - curser down - highlight found, and enter. If yours works the same as mine, then you have it made. I hope my instructions are clear
  10. We just use the usb cable, and click download to gps
  11. Well, we dont have much immagination when it comes to names like this. He's Ray, and She's Lynn. Even our Facebook is RayandLynn. *sigh* Dull names for people who enjoy mini adventures!!
  12. Welcome to Geocaching, it's the clean/dirty addiction!! We went to Vancouver to visit our daughter, and we couldn't be in the city without going on a hunt! Our daugher and son-in-law now wants a GPS. The reason I include dirty in this is because we went caching on the weekend, and it was a damp day in the bush. By the time we got home, I was pulling twigs out of my hair, and we had mud all over our clothes. Needless to say we had a BLAST!!!!!!!!!!!
  13. We use Garmin Legend HGX (I think), and we use the GC# and place them in alpha numeric order in the "to find" binder. When we use the "Closest to your point" feature on it, the GC# is shown, and I just look it up in the binder, and away we go!
  14. We are new too!! We have 2 binders, one is our "found" binder, and the other is our "need to find" binder. We print out the cache's, and, we like to read them as we look. Never know what hint it will hold, and we write notes about it when we find it. I guess it's what you want to do. Whatever method makes you happy.
  15. We are new too!! About a couple of week, and it is an obsesion/addiction. Never thought I would love dong anything this much. What I love about it isn't just the adventures we get to go on, but it gives us places to go and hike and explore. Places we would not have gone to normally
  16. Thanks for this thread!! As newbies, we never go without each other, we carry water, for us and the dogs, Sandwiches in the car, cell phone is a good idea, and I like the mirror idea. We have 2 binder, one is our "found" binder, the other is our "Need to Find" We print out the cache's, and carry them with us. Are we alone on that? Oh..we also learned what geosence is. Especially after I sat on a cache for 5 minutes, and the dogs layed on top of it before that. Oh...and one more thing we make sure we bring with us is a sence of humour. Lot's of FUN!!!!
