  1. I don't see how seeing his logs will tell you who he is. The best you get is what is in his profile. Also, I can't see all my own logs without going to each cache page - so how do think you would be able to see someone elses without doing the same? cc\
  2. maybe I am missing something here - for a given PQ, isn't the number the same every time you get it? doesn't matter what the file name is does it? the title you gave it is in the subject line of the e-mail the number GC gave it is in the e-mail s well as the file itself - for instance my e-mail for the PQ I got today says in part - "Here are the Pocket Query search results in the formats you requested. 285611.gpx: ..." I don't see what the problem is. I keep a couple of weeks worth of PQ e-mail messages "just in case". I used to save each one but that got to be a pain and an unnecessary waste of disk space. All I have to do is pick one with subject name as needed (the 123456.gpx doesn't seem relevent) and take it out of the e-mail if I need it. So what am I missing here? cc\
  3. does that mean the Bison is jumping or the chip is jumping? cc\

  5. do you use GSAK? Not only can you sort on just the caches you found, the list has a color coded cache code (GC1234) on the left so you know you found it and best of all for you, YOUR log is right on top - you don't have to go digging for it. if you copy your log to the notes section. and right on top of the page you get - You have already found this cache! GSAK is great - thanks Clyde - cc\
  6. I have thought about a cache that has one of those big spring snakes in it that jumps out at you when you open it - that would scare me - just need to find one and figure out how to rig it in a cache - that would take at least an ammo can. cc\
  7. got the same thing - after yesterday's total "crash" I am concerned - do we have some problems at gc? is there anything I/we can do? cc\
  8. seems to be back now - cc\
  9. When I hider has more than say 20 cache hides, it gets tricky- but When its under 20, I go to the users profile page, select Items owned- It then lists all the hides. I "select all" and download the gpx file. I get 1 file per page when its more than 1 page- Using Easygps, I open the multiple files in seperate windows- Drag and Drop until I have 1 big file. I then edit the waypoint names so I can Recognize them. That has got to be the long way, but without pocket queries - it still does the job. You can then upload that to google earth, USA photomaps, or whatever- but you don't get a gpx doing this - you get an LOC file which only has basic info not all theinfo that you get in a pgx. yes you do get a listing of his/her caches tho. cc\
  10. my first hide is still there - this was/is one of my best hides - cc\
  11. thanks -- the 60cs does the same thing and it bugs me - will try this next time - actually clearing all data will start it over -- but it ain't often I want to clear everything out - tnx cc\
  12. Check out these sites for magnet sheets - http://www.dickblick.com/zz289/21/ http://www.paper-paper.com/magnetic.html printable - http://www.custom-magnets.com/blank_magnets.htm http://www.magnetking.com/ http://www.mcgpaper.com/artandcrafma.html
  13. hmmm.... y'all might want to check out this link looks interesting - looks like this topic has been bounced around - this is linux related but hay - it's a start - http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=html2gpx there is actually a linux program to do what we want - http://geo.rkkda.com/geo-html2gpx now, is there a way to get this to work in Windows? Robert Lipe - is this something that your program might do? cc\
  14. OK - Now I am only thinking 'out loud' here so stick with me - #1 - on any cache page there is a link to view ALL logs on one page - yes? still with me here? #2 - you can download the gpx for any given cache page on the system yes? Still with me? #3 - and the 'punch line' if you will - #3 - a - do #1 #3 - b - do #2 #3 - c - open the gpx in a text editor #3 - d - highlight and copy all the needed text (the logs) from #1 #3 - e - paste it into the gpx #3 - f - do what editing is necessary to make the pasted text follow gpx format and save it wola!!! You now have a gpx for a cache that has ALL the logs in it. this does not seem like such a big deal for the stated few caches and is not rocket science - whatcha think? ======================== edit - well I guess that is what I get for thinking before I try it - uglyness abounds - first the gpx is not a simple file second the source file for a cache page really sucks so this is not an easy conversion - in fact, the HTML2GPX program does not look like a trivial application to write - but having seen the need, if there is someone out there that wants to do this, I sure would be interested. No one answered that question from above - does this application already exist? =========================== cc\
  15. there is little difference in the operation of 'find waypoint' or 'find cache'... find cache will chenge the icon from a closed chest to an open chest - and the only difference is how you select find waypoint from the menu. personally I don't bother with cache mode as I like the regular icons and since I use GSAK I can set my own icons. So I can see my own cache or micro, or whatever. You are locked in to the chests with cache mode. cc\
  16. I keep it open on 4 forums all evening running the computer doing other work then check the forums every now and then - adict ?? ya! but beat the heck out of other things that hurt - cc\
  17. I DO look at the cache page as an extension of the owners personality. I DO say "WOW, that guy really put together an interesting cache page!". There is nothing more boring than seeing a cache page's description that looks like: ------------------------------------------ Difficulty: * Terrain: * easy drive up micro. have fun or Difficulty: * Terrain: * This one is a "No Brainer". Have fun, be carefull!! ------------------------------------------ BORING!!! A cache page that clues you in on local history, or a fun story, or an interesting fact about the hide, IMHO, makes for a complete caching experience. Creating an interesting page is half the fun of hiding a cache for me. Ed I agree with boring but not everyone can or wants to deal with HTML no matter how simple us geeks think it is. I also agree with not too much glitz - sound and too much graphics can be a real pain. I don't like sound, just because I don't want all that noise, but most don't like dealing with the downloads. Check out the link in my previous post and send me a note of your opinion. cc\
  18. check out this cache - I think it is cool but does not have a lot what will cause problems for slow dialup nor for hand held units. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...88-1c710adcc434 'course I'm biased - it's mine - it addresses some of your issues -- cc\
  19. I'm confused - did you get your PQ's or not? cc\
  20. check your spam filter - check the web site to make sure you had a day set for it check the web site to see if it got generated check the pq to see if there is anything in it (do the preview) cc\
  21. please contact me off line with info on this cane/hiking staff cc\ thanks for your contact - went to his 'store' - sent him an e-mail several days ago - still no response- will buy 2 but he won't answer this is the link to his store - http://cgi.ebay.com/Anti-shock-walking-can...oQQcmdZViewItem just an fyi cc\
  22. I use this with my 60cs all the time - are you using the USB connection? Unfortunately when you purchase the gps you only get the USB cable - Delorme only recognizes the serial port for file transers (that is downloading tracks) so you need the serial cable - the connector plugs into the larger port on the rear with 4 pins. this is odd (only gives you serial options) yet when you go to the GPS tab you can select USB). Now, if you are using the serial cable we will likely have to go around a couple times edit to add - I just loaded topo to check out my settings and noticed that I have 5.0 which is newer than your reported 4.0. don't know how much difference this makes - we will have to see - checked my settings - they are the same as yours - cc\
