  1. I also got the Garmin etrex H recently. The first thing to do was to find the DIY page (this one here is quite good http://www.jens-seiler.de/etrex/datacable.html) and less than a 2 days later the cable was ready. It works great with Easy GPS. If your not so technicaly talented then ask a friend of yours who might be. Greetz Backo from Germany
  2. One of the first caches I found was a multi with gathering characters along the stations and the final hidden in a library. The gathered information of the previous stages turned out to be the signature of the book containing the final. I found it pretty amazing. In my eyes it is not an entirely indoor cache. I still haven't found an indoor cache which is a solution for caching on a rainy day. I like the idea of putting stations or an entire cache indoors. It certainly raises the terrain and difficulty, because even expert geocachers have to think out of the box and "navigate" without a GPS. I am pro such caches and if someone doesn't like them then just ignore them Greets Backo

Hi, I also got a Garmin Etrex H shortly before Christmas. I am also getting some more experience in using this unit for geocaching. The price for an original cable disapointed me a bit and I used the D-it-Yourself solution. Take a look here http://www.jens-seiler.de/etrex/datacable.html . Taker a look on this site, it is definitely worth it. I t is quite simple and affordable for everybody. On the PC I use the EasyGPS. As I am at the moment only normal member and have access only to the LOC files, I transfered the information form the LOC files on the GPS. It saves the tideous work on putting the cache coordinates by hand. For couple of coordinates it is OK but if you decide to put the coordinates of lets say the 100 caches nearest to your home location, then you are going to give up quite fast. That is why I decided to build myself the cable and use the cable and PC software. So far I like the unit. Low price and robustness. I consider using it for some time before I upgrade. Now it is also possible simply to lend the user to beginner users in order to play a bit without bothering that it might break or gvet a scratch. It was a different with my pocket PC unit. I was trying to use the routing function but didn't figure it out. The desciption in the manual is quite sparse and didn't give any further help. Do you have any experience with this function? I get to the first point on the route but then it doesn't jump to the next point in the route. Regards Backo
