  1. One possible upshot of Drsolly's approach to "fixing" uncamouflage issues is that the cache is never seen again.. GC24QB6.
  2. If it really is several weeks, the best course of action is to do both things that have been suggested. 1) Re-run your PQ. This will update the cache entries to the last 5 logs, and add any new caches. 2) Refresh the cache data using GSAK 8. This will download more than the last 5 logs (if set to do so), thus filling in the gaps. More importantly, it will detect any caches that have been archived: after refreshing the caches, make sure you search for any archived caches and delete them.
  3. +1, using Chrome. Edit: back now, temporary glitch?
  4. For info, it looks fine to me, using both Chrome and IE9.
  5. Thanks for that, I was looking for a replacement. Ordered Monday, delivered today, and looks like a useful piece of kit.
  6. As no-one appears to have mentioned it yet, although it's no doubt covered in one of the links, select the Geocaching profile: it puts geocaching stuff where you can find it easily. You're no doubt very careful with your Oregon, and unlikely to lose it. However, if you do, it's handy to have recorded your contact details on the unit. Then, if it's found by someone friendly, they can get it back to you. Details here: create startup.txt
  7. I've lost or broken more than one container in my time. Where possible I've replaced, or repaired. Where not, I've said sorry, usually in the log as well as in email. However, the emails (two) I've had to send when I've lost someone's geocoin were much harder to write. That's one of the reasons I rarely move trackables nowadays.
  8. I predict - nay, I hope for! - a nationwide cache series, based on caches hidden on/by postboxes painted Gold for Olympic gold medal winners. Akin to the Little Quest, just more selective
  9. It's not *all* about the numbers
  10. Some of the best "converted" red phone boxes I've come across are book exchanges - in such, we're not furtling, we're browsing.
  11. Thanks qrang, I shall miss your updates, which I used to check for regularly
  12. On the left-hand side of the map screen, click on "Set Map Preferences". Change this from Google to Leaflet to see the map that jri's extension works on.
  13. Yes, quite often. I use the GarminExport macro for GSAK to export caches to my Oregon. This creates a dummy log as the first log for each cache, which lists the attributes. Here's the GSAK forum post which introduced the functionality (in 2010) - see item 7 for a screenshot.
  14. Wow.. glad I managed to do them a couple of weeks ago. A very enjoyable two days caching along the Navigation.
  15. Ahh.. - it seems I am not alone. I should have checked the bug reports topic before posting: link. Fix is scheduled for Tuesday.
  16. Is it just me, or is anyone else finding that they have to sign in again to geocaching.com (even if "remember me" is selected) far more often than used to be the case? I'm using Chrome, and - as far as I know - I haven't changed any cookie settings.
  17. Could the thinking be to ensure that the puzzle is actually solvable?
  18. To get back to the original question.. I had found just over a 1000 caches before I set my first, simply because I didn't think I knew enough about hiding caches until then. But that was me; I wouldn't want to stop anyone from hiding a cache before finding one. Nigel
  19. You can check whether your account is set up to auto-renew by going to your geocaching.com profile (www.geocaching.com/my) and selecting "View your account details" from the Account Options Menu on the right-hand side. Once at the Account Details screen look for the box labelled "Your Membership", and click on the "Change" link. This will show your payment method (if one is set up), and will show whether you have a recurring payment in place. I do have a recurring payment in place, so all I see is a "Cancel Recurring Membership" button. I would hope that someone who has not yet set one up has a button that allows you to do so.
  20. I actually carry 4 whenever I'm caching: Oregon 550t Dakota 20 Either of the above will be in the rucksack Satmap Active 10 x 2 - one in pocket, one in rucksack. The Satmaps are for navigating, the Garmins are for cache-hunting. Although it's 5 if you count my phone, and then 6 if you count my camera.. My sense of direction is so awful I dare not risk being out in the wilds without help!
  21. Heh! No sooner had I typed in my last reply, when everything started working again. Weird...
  22. Oh poo.. - now I have to try and find out what has broken, then. Thanks all!
