  1. We both are, of course! I want to see if I can find a cache near a good fishing spot so we can do both
  2. I'll have to learn how to look up a member's logs. I did find out, however, that you do know how to spell Schuyler!
  3. Cool. The experience is why I, and my son, do this!
  4. Ok, I logged them. I'm not sure what to put in logs yet, would someone mind checking them and seeing if they are appropriate. If such a thing can be done... Thanks so much.
  5. My son, 9 found his first geocache today. Four of them, two with mom and two with me. Today was everybody's first time out. Been reading the forums, the FAQs and started off today. So much fun! Haven't logged the finds yet but will. Did sign the log books. Thanks all, for making this site what it is: fantastic!
  6. Awesome! I'm checking these sites out and finding some things. Learning more about how this works... Thanks all for the suggestions!
  7. Thank you for the suggestion. I'll check out the openstreetmap site and see what I can find. I'd prefer not to use my phone as my 9 year old tends to be a bit tough on them I can always get the Garmin higher resolution topo but it's a bit dated. I know the source of a lot of their data hasn't been updated in a while and that's where openstreemaps might help. I'll poke around and thanks again!
  8. Hi All! I'm new here, and to geocaching. I've looked a few things up regarding finding a better topo map than was included in my Garmin 64st. Seems like the higher resolution map you can buy (Garmin) is old and it sure is expensive if you look it up on Amazon. I watched a video where someone got one from another site and super-imposed it over a Google map product but it made no sense to me. I don't mind paying for a good map. I just want a good topo map for New Hampshire. I have difficulty walking but had about 6 months on the AT at one point in my life with nothing but paper topo maps. So, I think it would be helpful for me. I want to push myself a bit but I need to see trails and elevation at a better resolution than what came with my GPS. Any ideas would be appreciated! Thanks
  9. Greetings all! Brand new to geocaching, ex wanted to do it with our son and I was on board! We've yet to come up with a team name but we will I've learned a lot reading the FAQs and forum submissions here. Love it. Been supplementing with a bit of YouTube so my son (he's 9) can follow along easier. Kids these days I live in New England and there are a lot of trails and public land around here which I think should be most helpful. The downside is that when it's -15F I'm not sure I want to go out and about so I think our season might be pretty short. At least for my family. Anyway, just wanted to say hi, I'm sure you'll see some posts from me in the other areas!
